1812 Continues Season with THE SANTALAND DIARIES and More Image

As This Is The Week That Is plays through the month of December,1812 Productions will present a special two-night-only staged reading of David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries. A modern comedy classic about the author's time as a Macy's Christmas elf, this special event stars David Bardeen in his 1812 Productions debut. The evening will also feature a musical selection of holiday favorites with Emily Kleimo at the mic and Gina Giachero at the piano. Mr. Bardeen says, "In my first outing with 1812 Productions, getting to work with the remarkable Jennifer Childs for the first time in twenty years and take on David Sedaris' Christmas masterpiece is such a treat. Who doesn't need a good laugh during the holidays-and who better than David Sedaris to give it to you?!" The Santaland Diaries will play Monday, December 10 and Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Tickets are $28 ($22 for 1812 Productions subscribers).

1812 Productions kicks off 2019 with a red curtain comedy revue called Broads, curated by Jennifer Childs and starring Joilet Harris, MB Scallen, and Jess Conda. From Mae West to Moms Mabley, Pearl Williams, and more, Broads features classic and original material and celebrates the bawdiest, brashest, and funniest ladies of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Broads will play for 10 performances from February 13 thru February 24, 2019. Tickets are $35 ($30 for 1812 Productions subscribers).

1812 Productions will close its season with another 1812 original, The God Project, written by Sean Close and Jennifer Childs and featuring Close, Childs, and Philadelphia theatre powerhouse Joilet Harris. In an overstocked Swedish furniture store, two co-workers and their omnipresent manager unpack the cosmic mystery behind 'Some Assembly Required'-with only their Sunday School memories and a totem allen wrench to guide them. The God Project began as a conversation between Close and Childs, who are both children of pastors, backstage at Plays & Players Theatre. That conversation quickly grew into a series of creative workshops in 2017, adding Ms. Harris and director David Bradley to the project. The development process will continue through the show's 2019 premiere. The God Project will play from April 25 thru May 19, 2018. Opening Night will be Wednesday, May 1 at 7pm. Tickets for The God Project range from $28-$44.

Finally, for two nights only during the run of The God Project, 1812 Productions will present An 1812 Comedy Conversation. After 13 years of making This Is The Week That Is, a show which evolved from a historical comedy to a nightly-changing political satire, we join the show's creators to take a look behind the curtain and unpack the business of making comedy in an often unfunny world. An 1812 Comedy Conversation will take place Monday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Tickets are $28 ($22 for 1812 Productions subscribers).

All performances during our 2018-2019 season will take place at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Place in Center City. Tickets and information can be found at www.1812productions.org.
