Leading Australian actress, Amanda Muggleton, is returning to Perth to reprise her Helpmann Award-nominated role as Deborah in the raucous one-woman hit, The Book Club by Rodney Fisher from the play by Roger Hall. Directed and designed by Rodney Fisher, The Book Club will play at the Subiaco Arts Centre from 4 - 8 June 2013.

The Book Club, a hysterically funny peek behind the closed doors of suburbia, was performed in Perth by Muggleton in 2000, but this latest offering from producer HIT Productions promises an entirely new, revamped and sexier-than-ever production.

"...Be afraid... be very afraid" said Muggleton.

Originally authored by Roger Hall in 1999, The Book Club is the story of genteel housewife and mother, Deborah - and her addiction to books. With her children having flown the coop and an unattentive husband, the spice of Deborah's life is her book club. For the women who take part, it's a meeting of minds - and their very different lifestyles. For Deborah, the club is a chance to gather the juicy gossip of her friends' lives and relationships, but when a famous author joins the group for a study session, Deborah's own life suddenly switches from an old wives' tale to the stuff of erotic fiction. The ensuing affair takes her love of linguistics to a whole new level.

Amanda Muggleton is regarded as one of Australia's most legendary leading ladies. Her diverse career encompasses theatre, television, film, radio, musical theatre and cabaret. Some of her theatre credits include Master Class (Helpmann Award for Best Female Actor in a Play), The Threepenny Opera, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Shirley Valentine, Blithe Spirit, Twelfth Night, Educating Rita, Medea, Madagascar, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, Calendar Girls, Annie, Darling It's Noel, Hello Dolly!, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Eureka! (Best Female Actor in a Musical), HMS Pinafore, Macbeth and Blood Brothers. On television Amanda is best remembered for her role as Chrissie Latham in Prisoner, Connie Ryan in Richmond Hill and Kathy Booth in City Homicide (an AFI Award nominated role). Amanda's film credits include Mad Max, A Slice of Life, Thirst, Street Hero, Queen of the Road, Mr Reliable, Feeling Sexy, Idiot Box and Matching Jack. In 2012 Amanda finished shooting Fatal Honeymoon alongside Harvey Keitel.
