As previously announced, National Theatre Live will broadcast ANGELS IN AMERICA, Tony Kushner's multi-award-winning two-part play, this summer. Part One: Millennium Approaches will be in cinemas from 20 July. Part Two: Perestroika will be in cinemas from 27 July. Watch the trailer for the cinema events below!

The announcement of today's Tony Award nominations marks this as a week for celebration and reaffirms the commitment of organizations that protect the survival of the arts. For those organizations, like the Dramatists Guild Fund (DGF), that commitment likely means shouldering a larger burden of funding and support. The new documentary TERRENCE MCNALLY: EVERY ACT OF LIFE follows one of the world's most honored and risk-taking playwrights in an immersive exploration of how to “make the third act of life as interesting as the first two.”

Coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from January 31st-February 5th is the national touring production of Hedwig & the Angry Inch.

Seattle Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of Roz and Ray, a play by local playwright, Seattle Rep Writers Group alumna, and University of Washington Senior Artist in Residence Karen Hartman, with direction from the acclaimed Chay Yew, Artistic Director of Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago. Broadway talents Ellen McLaughlin (Angels in America) and Teagle F. Bougere (The Crucible, A Raisin In The Sun, The Tempest) star in Roz and Ray, which runs now through November 13, 2016 (opening night is tonight, October 19, 2016) in the Leo K. Theatre. Kushner's best known work is Angels in America, a seven-hour epic about the AIDS epidemic in Reagan-era New York, which was later adapted into a miniseries for which Kushner wrote the screenplay. His other plays include Hydriotaphia, Slavs!: Thinking About the Longstanding Problems of Virtue and Happiness, A Bright Room Called Day, Homebody/Kabul, and the book for the musical Caroline, or Change. His new translation of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children was performed at the Delacorte Theater in the summer of 2006 starring Meryl Streep and directed by George C. Wolfe. Kushner has also adapted Brecht's The Good Person of Szechwan, Corneille's The Illusion, and S. Ansky's play The Dybbuk.

Last night, the cast of FUN HOME took their curtain call for the first time since winning five Tony Awards, including BEST MUSICAL.

The American Theatre Wing and the Village Voice just presented the winners of the 60th Annual OBIE Awards. The Public Theater's Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda (including special citations for Andy Blankenbuehler, Thomas Kail, and Alex Lacamoire) received the OBIE Award for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $1,000 check. The Signature Theatre's Founding Artistic Director James Houghton received the OBIE Award for Sustained Achievement.
