Porchlight adds a new holiday family event to the Christmas calendar with the Chicago premiere of The Gifts of the Magi, directed by Mark Lococo with lyrics by Mark St. Germain and Randy Courts, now playing through December 23. Drawn from two short stories by the immortal O. Henry, 'The Gift of the Magi' and 'The Cop and the Anthem,' this heart-warming charmer transports the audience to Christmas in New York, 1905 where they not only meet the famed penniless lovers but also a metropolis of people going about their holiday business including "Soapy Smith," a cheerful bum hoping to be arrested so he can spend winter in a warm cell. The Gifts of the Magi is an evening perfect for the whole family celebrating the true meaning of the season.

Arden Theatre Company continues its 2012/13 Season with Freud's Last Session, written by Mark St. Germain and directed by Ian Merrill Peakes. This imagined meeting between C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud will run on the Arcadia Stage from October 25 through December 23, 2012. Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, presents a workshop production of the new musical The Black Suits with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and book by Joe Iconis and Robert Emmett Maddock. The Black Suits is part of Barrington Stage's Musical Theatre Lab, William Finn, Artistic Producer. Directed by John Simpkins, with musical direction by James Sampliner, The Black Suits will run August 16 through September 2 at BSC's St. Germain Stage (formerly Stage 2), located on the upper level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield. Barrington Stage Company will present the New England premiere of British playwright's Duncan Macmillan's acclaimed new drama Lungs. Lungs opens the newly named St. Germain Stage (formerly Stage 2) from May 23 through June 10, and the press opening is Sunday, May 27 at 3pm. New York's smash hit play FREUD'S LAST SESSION opened its second foreign production on January 25th at the famed Multiteatro in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Under the title La Ultima Sesion de Freud, the play's South American debut stars Jorge Suarez as Sigmund Freud and Luis Machin as C. S. Lewis, under the direction of Daniel Veronese.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the inaugural Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception June 21, 2011 at Sardi's. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Romulus Linney, Ellen Stewart and Lanford Wilson were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.

On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, love, sex, and the meaning of life - just two weeks before Freud chooses to take his own.
