The 40th Anniversary production and first-ever Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's rock musical GODSPELL is currently playing at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre. Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli, the show opened on Monday, November 7. This afternoon, the cast visited Barnes & Noble, where they treated visitors to a special performance and signed copies of the just-released album. On Thursday, July 7, open call auditions for the first-ever Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's landmark rock musical GODSPELL took place at The Actors Chapel in midtown Manhattan. Telsey + Company, the casting office for GODSPELL, is seeking musical theatre performers with strong singing voices and comedic ability, ages 16-30. All ethnicities and types were welcome. Thousands of hopefuls showed up for their chance to participate in the historic revival. La Jolla Playhouse presents a new adaptation of Sleeping Beauty Wakes, book by Tony Award-winning librettist Rachel Sheinkin (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), with a score by composer Brendan Milburn and lyricist Valerie Vigoda, both of the acclaimed trio GrooveLily (Striking 12, Long Story Short), and directed by Rebecca Taichman, who will also direct The Playhouse's 2011/12 world premiere of Milk Like Sugar. A co-production with Princeton's McCarter Theatre Center, Sleeping Beauty Wakes runs July 19 - August 21 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre. The production, which runs from April 29 through June 5, will be directed by Rebecca Taichman, who delighted McCarter audiences with her 2009 production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Opening Night is set for Friday, May 6. Following the McCarter run, the production will move to La Jolla Playhouse.
