An unlikely collaboration between singer songwriter Lauren Pritchard (LOLO) and writer Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) has resulted in the whiskey-soaked new play 'Songbird,' which is now set to land at Joe's Pub on July 21. Set in Pritchard's home state of Tennessee, the play looks at the darker side of country music and the musicians that create it. The Old Globe presents The Last Goodbye, a new musical fusing Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody BloodyAndrew Jackson). Choreography is by Emmy Award nominee Sonya Tayeh ('So You Think You Can Dance'), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul.
