Ghostlight Records, alongside Transport Group Theatre Company, announced today that they will release the Original Cast Recording of Michael John LaChiusa's critically-acclaimed new musical, QUEEN OF THE MIST on June 19, 2012 in both digital and physical CD formats. The recording was made possible with generous support from The Shen Family Foundation.Ghostlight Records, alongside Transport Group Theatre Company, announced today that they will release the Original Cast Recording of Michael John LaChiusa's critically-acclaimed new musical, QUEEN OF THE MIST on June 19, 2012 in both digital and physical CD formats. Today in 2000, The Wild Party opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 68 performances. The Wild Party is a musical with a book by Michael John LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe and music and lyrics by LaChiusa. It is based on the 1928 Joseph Moncure March narrative poem of the same name. The Broadway production coincidentally opened during the same theatrical season (1999-2000) as an off-Broadway musical with the same title and source material. Its plot centers on a party - fueled by bathtub gin, cocaine, and uninhibited sexual behavior - hosted by Queenie and Burrs, whose relationship is disintegrating. The cast included Toni Collette (making her Broadway debut) as Queenie, Mandy Patinkin as Burrs, and Yancey Arias as Black.

For Idina Menzel's new PBS special and cd, 'Idina Menzel Live: Barefoot at the Symphony' she sings the classic Broaway song 'Tomorrow' from the musical ANNIE, which will return to Broadway in late 2012. Though she has never been in this show, Idina performs the song as a beautiful close to her show.

Dallas Theater Center presents Giant at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center through Feb. 19. Tony Award-nominated Michael Greif will direct this new musical by Sybille Pearson and Michael John LaChiusa. Aaron Lazar stars as Bick and Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow) plays Leslie. Lazarand Baldwin recently stopped by Dallas' GMT whwre they performed a song from the show. Transport Group's Queen of the Mist is a world premiere musical with words and music by 5-time Tony nominee Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party, Marie Christine, Hello Again). Based on an astounding, outrageous, and haunting true story, two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa (Guys and Dolls, Xanadu, 42nd Street) stars as Anna Edson Taylor, who, in 1901, set out to be the first woman to shoot Niagara Falls, in a barrel of her own design.
