STAGE TUBE: LAS MENINAS Plays Asolo Rep

Asolo Repertory Theatre is thrilled to introduce Florida audiences to Las Meninas, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage. The play is directed by Asolo Rep Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards, who directed the World Premiere of Las Meninas at San Jose Rep in 2002. The Asolo Rep production of Las Meninas runs from March 18-May 15, 2011 in Asolo Rep's Mertz Theatre; then will travel to Miami to perform as part of the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) soft opening. The SMDCAC performance is hoped to foster a further artistic exchange between the two cities and the two organizations, and lead to more projects. STAGE TUBE: Seattle's Intiman Launches Save the Theatre Campaign

Seattle's Intiman Theatre is currently going though hard times, as it is now calling for the support of the public in order to solve its financial issues. The theatre, which is currently $1 million in debt, is attemping to raise $500,000 by April, and a second $500,000 by September. As of November the theatre's debt stood at $2.3 million. Since then, over $800,000 has been raised.

La Jolla Playhouse presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, by Lynn Nottage (Intimate Apparel, Crumbs from the Table of Joy), directed by South Africa native Liesl Tommy, in the Mandell Weiss Theatre November 16 - December 19 (media night: Sunday, November 21 at 7:00 pm). Ruined is a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Huntington Theatre Company.
