The American Theatre Wing raised more than $550,000 at their annual Gala last night. All of the proceeds will go towards The Wing's education and outreach programs. The event was held at New York's legendary Plaza Hotel in honor of Sir Howard Stringer (Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sony Corporation and longtime American Theatre Wing Board Member), and included a special tribute to Douglas B. Leeds (Former President and dear friend of The Wing).

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' production of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's FOLLIES officially opened last night, May 21, 2011 after previews which began May 7. The Kennedy Center has posted behind the scenes videos and we've got them!

Elaine Paige is celebrating her illustrious career with a concert DVD entitled 'Elaine Page - Celebrating 40 Years On Stage'. The video shows material from a concert stop on Paige's 40th Anniversary Tour. The concert, entitled 'Live in Australia,' was filmed during the New Zealand/Australian tour that took place earlier this year. This specific concert took place on October 31st, 2009.

As previously reported, in the wake of the media storm that has ensued as a result of comments that recently in the U.K. Daily Mail in which Elaine Paige - famous for her performances in EVITA and CATS in the West End - stated that Susan Boyle was a 'virus,' Paige released a statement clarifying her comments, which she asserts, were grossly misinterpreted and skewed. Various UK news services have reported that Britain's Got Talent star Jamie Pugh has indeed played at a West End theatre before, undermining his claim of having no experience in front of large audiences.

Jamie Pugh sang 'Bring Him Home' from 'Les Miserables' on Episode 4 of Britain's Got Talent 2009. And once again, like Susan Boyle before him, his choice of a 'Les Miz' song proved both successful and an inspiration that mirrored his own humble aspirations and deep held dreams.
