This new musical comedy, direct from Broadway, is based on the hit movie and features Dolly Parton's original hit title song along with her new Tony Award® and Grammy-nominated score. The book is by Patricia Resnick (co-writer of the original screenplay). The touring production will be directed and choreographed by Tony nominated, Jeff Calhoun. On June 11, HAIR stars (and former American Idol alums) Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo teamed up with Ubisoft for the launch of Ubisoft's Dance on Broadway video game for the Wii at the Nintendo Store at Rockefeller Center. Young and DeGarmo hosted a meet-and-greet with fans where they played the video game - which includes the songs 'Aquarius' and 'Let the Sunshine In' from HAIR - and gave BroadwayWorld a special demonstation, competing against one another for 'Dance on Broadway' champion of the day. (Young went undefeated).

This August, from the 18th through the 21st, the Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) will host its Summer Performing Arts Intensive in Philadelphia! During the intensive, attendees will receive first-rate training in acting, dance and vocal performance daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by savvy Broadway veterans who will share their invaluable insider knowledge on the skills needed to make it in show business. Students will also learn how to improve their audition skills (song selections and cold readings) and attend classes geared toward college and career planning (headshots and resumes). At week's end, all participants will have the opportunity to perform alongside their Broadway idols in a 'one night only' concert event. Tony-winner Alice Ripley (Next To Normal) will participate as the guest teacher for the intensive.
Last night, May 26, Lee Dewyze was crowned the newest American Idol by Idol fans across the country. The evening also marked Simon Cowell's last appearance as head judge on the show he made famous. In a special tribute, Idol alumni, including now-stage stars Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, Constantine Maroulis, Fantasia and Taylor Hicks, reunited to bid farewell to their sometimes friend and sometimes foe in song.
