Coming up on Friday, February 28 at 9:00PM EST, PBS will present the national, TV broadcast premiere of Jazz and the Philharmonic, a co-production by the National YoungArts Foundation-a national organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists-the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and JAZZ ROOTS Producer Larry Rosen. Jazz and the Philharmonic was presented and filmed at the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center on January 11, 2013 and is a unique and wholly American concert experience which highlights two of the greatest musical art forms, classical and jazz. The evening was a concert of love and healing for the Newtown community from the composers, musicians and more than 100 stars of Broadway together with over 100 students from several Newtown dance groups and the Newtown High School Chamber Choir. All proceeds and donations go directly to United Way of Western Connecticut's Sandy Hook School Support Fund.
