American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) kicks off its 2013-14 season with passionate (and patriotic) fireworks with the West Coast premiere of Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati's triumphant new staging of the musical 1776. A.C.T.'s production of 1776 runs September 11-October 6, 2013, at The Geary Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). STAGE TUBE: Highlights from Ford's Theatre's 1776!

Ford's Theatre Society just opened the Tony-winning musical 1776, directed by Peter Flynn, on March 9. The production runs though May 19, 2012. With 'quick-witted dialogue and a playful score,' 1776 dramatizes the impassioned debates of Philadelphia's Second Continental Congress and the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

STAGE TUBE: I Made America Present FOUNDING FATHERS PICK-UP LINES

'I Made America' uses many media platforms--from weekly webisodes and social media to street performances and local bar sightings--to tell one story. Six Founding Fathers of the United States of America were kidnapped from the 18th Century and brought to 2012 to be used as props in the upcoming election. Upon discovering that these statesmen hold drastically different political views than any modern day candidate, their kidnappers cut off all ties, leaving them stranded in present day Chicago.
