The new musical Kinky Boots, from four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics), will begin preview performances on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, with an official opening night set for Thursday, April 4, 2013. ARTINFO's Patrick Pacheco and NY1 theater reporter Frank DiLella sat down with architect and producer David Rockwell to talk about his most recent set designs for the Broadway musicals Kinky Boots and the upcoming Houdini. Today in 2009, 9 to 5 closed at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 148 performances. 9 to 5 is a stage musical with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the 1980 movie Nine to Five. Resnick had co-written the screenplay with Colin Higgins, the director of the film, in which Parton had her first screen role. The musical premiered at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2008 and opened on Broadway on April 30, 2009. It was nominated for 15 Drama Desk Awards, the most received by a production in a single year. It was also nominated for four Tony Awards.

Elephant Room at the Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre brings pure, unadulterated fun and transforms the space into a mystical place of wonder and amusement, running now through September 16, 2012. The award-winning musical "Mary Poppins", which opened Friday, August 10th at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles has once again been declared a spectacular hit with Los Angeles audiences. On Saturday, August 4, 2012, Civic Center Members in Des Moines were treated to an exclusive visit from 'Joey,' the star of WAR HORSE. More than 125 were in line at 6 a.m. to take advantage of early purchasing and watched 'Joey' make several appearances to cheering crowds. Watch the videos below!
