National Philharmonic Dedicating its 2018-19 Season To Leonard Bernstein

The centennial of renowned American composer Leonard Bernstein is celebrated throughout the National Philharmonic's 2018-2019 concert series at The Music Center at Strathmore. Performing compositions that influenced Bernstein, as well as some of his very own famous works, the National Philharmonic will be the only symphony orchestra dedicating most of its 2018-2019 season to the works surrounding the legendary composer.

On Saturday, December 2, Maestro Andr Raphel takes the podium of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra marking his debut concert conducting Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Jupiter, and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.

The Orchestra Now to Perform at Jazz at Lincoln Center

The Orchestra Now (T?N) will open its New York City fall season with the first concert of its T?N at Rose Theater series at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall on October 15. The program of works by Rubinstein, Sibelius, and Daugherty will feature the distinguished maestro Neeme J rvi as guest conductor with pianist Anna Shelest and cellist Zuill Bailey.

National Philharmonic Kicks Off the 2017-2018 Season with Star-Studded Opening

The National Philharmonic's 2017-2018 season at The Music Center at Strathmore commences with star-studded performances by some of today's most famous classical musicians. The concert on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m., will feature the famous former child prodigy Sarah Chang (violin) and Grammy winning Zuill Bailey (cello), conducted by Philharmonic Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski. On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m., Chang will play alongside pianist Santiago Rodriguez, who will be making his return-debut to the Washington area. Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett is conducting the Star-Spangled Banner on Saturday. An instrument petting zoo will take place in the lobby on Sunday from 2-2:30 p.m., allowing children a chance to experiment with instruments from different families (string, wood, brass, and percussion). In both concerts, musicians will play Beethoven's Egmont Overtureand Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor.

Violinist Philippe Quint to Perform With the Santa Barbara Symphony, 3/18

Russian-born violin virtuoso Philippe Quint - lauded for his "fervidly expressive" playing (San Francisco Chronicle) and "bravura technique" (The Times of London) - will showcase his formidable endurance in performances of Antonio Vivaldi's timeless The Four Seasons and Astor Piazzolla's nuevo tango masterpiece The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires with the Santa Barbara Symphony on March 18 and 19. Conducted by Maestro Nir Kabaretti, and including Haydn's dramatic Symphony No. 101 ("The Clock"), the concerts will take place at 8 pm on Saturday, March 18, and at 3 pm on Sunday, March 19, in Santa Barbara's Granada Theatre. Tickets are now available.

Artistic Director of Mesa Arts Center's Classical Music Series Zuill Bailey Wins Grammy Awards

Cellist Zuill Bailey, artistic director of Mesa Arts Center's Classical Music Inside Out Series, was recognized yesterday with Grammy awards for "Tales of Hemingway" by composer Michael Daugherty. Bailey received Grammy Awards for Best Classical Instrumental Solo, Best Contemporary Classical Composition and Best Classical Compendium. Following the event, Bailey will travel to Mesa, AZ for a week of engagements and performances at Mesa Arts Center, the Arizona Museum of Natural History, Arizona State University, Highland Elementary School and Mesa Express Library.

Santa Barbara Symphony to Premiere Leshnoff Clarinet Concerto for West Coast

The Santa Barbara Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, will present the West Coast premiere of acclaimed composer Jonathan Leshnoff's Clarinet Concerto - a work co-commissioned by the renowned Philadelphia Orchestra - at the Granada Theatre on Saturday, February 11. Featuring Santa Barbara Symphony Principal Clarinetist Donald Foster, the performance will take place at 8 pm, followed by an encore concert at 3 pm on Sunday, February 12. Tickets are now available.
