Eagle Theatre Hires New Theatre Manager and Marketing Coordinator

The Eagle Theatre, located at 208 Vine Street in Hammonton, NJ, announced the addition of two new full-time employees. Tom Blemings will take over as theatre manager and Zack Brown will step into a newly created position as marketing & outreach coordinator.

Media Theatre's Youth Ensemble Presents JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, 7/13-8/5

The Media Theatre's Teen Ensemble will perform JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR July 13 to August 5 in a contemporary style production. Featuring a live rock band with music direction by the theatre's resident music director Tom Fosnocht, the show brings Webber's stage musical to a new generation and is directed by Jesse Cline.

Labyrinth Theatre Company Begins NINTH AND JOANIE Performances Tonight

Performances begin tonight for Labyrinth Theater Company's (Co-Artistic Directors Stephen Adly Guirgis, Mimi O'Donnell, Yul Vazquez and Managing Director, Danny Feldman), World Premiere production of Ninth and Joanie. The show, written by Brett C. Leonard and directed by Mark Wing-Davey, plays at The Bank Street Theater (155 Bank St.) and has an official opening night scheduled for April 18, 2012.

THE X FACTOR: A Night of Rain, Creeps, and Planet Paula

The X Factor came back with its third round of auditions this week, in none other but the very rainy and windy cities of Chicago and Seattle. The rain didn't seem dampen the contestants' spirits however. The night included a wide range of performances; some of which left me misty eyed and yearning to hear more and others left me wondering what sort of strange drugs the contestants ingested before heading onto the stage.

ABT Announces 2011 Spring Season at the Met

American Ballet Theatre's 2011 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 16-July 9, was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Highlights of the season include World Premieres by Alexei Ratmansky and Christopher Wheeldon, the New York Company Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's The Bright Stream and the U.S. Premiere of a new work by Benjamin Millepied. Principal Dancers for the 2011 Metropolitan Opera Season include Maxim Beloserkovsky, Roberto Bolle, Jose Manuel Carreño, Angel Corella, Herman Cornejo, Irina Dvorovenko, Marcelo Gomes, David Hallberg, Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent, Gillian Murphy, Veronika Part, Xiomara Reyes, Ethan Stiefel, Diana Vishneva and Michele Wiles. Natalia Osipova, a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet, and Alina Cojocaru, a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet, will return for the Spring season as guest artists.

Giuseppe Verdi's popular masterpiece Rigoletto returns to the Met this season featuring five artists in their Met debuts and four performers singing major roles for the first time with the company. On September 29, Lado Ataneli sings the hunchback court jester and Christine Schäfer is his daughter Gilda, both adding new roles to their Met repertory. Conductor Paolo Arrivabeni makes his Met debut, as does Francesco Meli as the Duke of Mantua, Nino Surguladze as Maddalena, and Andrea Silvestrelli as Sparafucile. On October 5, George Gagnidze returns to the role of Rigoletto which he sang at the Met in 2009.

Woodshed Collective Presents THE CONFIDENCE MAN Beginning 9/1, Plays Free To Public On the Ship Lilac

Woodshed Collective will present the world premiere of The Confidence Man, conceived by Woodshed Collective, written by Paul Cohen (winner of the 2008 NYCFringe best playwright award), and inspired by Herman Melville's1857 novel about a riverboat con man, beginning Tuesday, September 1 and playing free to the public on the ship Lilac, a decommissioned U.S. Coast Guard vessel docked on the north side of Pier 40, at the intersection of West and Houston streets on the Hudson River.
