It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. It's just a handful of hours until the 70th annual Tony Awards, and New York City and theatre fans across the world are excitedly buzzing about this year's ceremonies which will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 8/7c on CBS. This Broadway season has some exciting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at least pre-ordering).
Before Broadway's biggest night this Sunday, June 12th, 36 productions will have opened on Broadway in the 2015-16 season. Of those productions, 18 are nominated for Tony Awards this year, and 94 of the actors and creative teams in those productions will walk the red carpet on Sunday as nominees.
Ghostlight Records has released the cast album of the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of She Loves Me from Roundabout Theatre Company in digital formats today, Friday, June 10. Physical copies will be online and in stores on Friday, July 8. THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS (NHSMTA)/JIMMY AWARDS has announced that stage and screen star ZACHARY LEVI will host the eighth annual awards ceremony on Monday, June 27th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan. Sixty-two high school students from across America will compete for the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress at the eighth annual presentation. The talent showcase will feature dynamic ensemble and solo performances.
