WAM Theatre's Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven announced plans for the company's 2016 season today. The Berkshire-based professional theatre company celebrates its seventh year with some notable special events, a thought-provoking series of play readings, and an exciting new collaboration for the fall mainstage production.
Chicago, Broadway's longest running American musical, now in its 20th year, just celebrated another milestone at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC). Last night the company gathered to mark the show's 8000th performance on a night that happened to also be the birthday of Barry Weissler, the show's lead producer. Back by popular demand, ON KENTUCKY AVENUE: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Historic Club Harlem returns to City College's performing arts center Aaron Davis Hall tonight, February 19, for a three-day encore engagement. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis. Directed by Amanda Hartman, Our Town is a slice of small town life over a decade in Grover's Corners. The town citizens reveal every day problems and pleasures while the central story focuses on the lives of two families, the Webbs and Gibbs, as they eventually join together as George Gibbs and Emily Webb become romantically involved.
WICKED, the West End musical phenomenon that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, is pleased to announce that the actor and presenter Mark Curry will play The Wizard from 25 March 2016. Tom McGowan will play his final performance as The Wizard on 12 March 2016. From 14-24 March 2016, the role will be played by Sean Kearns.

Star of stage and screen Vicki Michelle will make her Park Theatre debut in Hello Norma Jeane by Dylan Costello in PARK90 from 23 February - 19 March, directed by Matthew Gould. Produced by Giant Cherry Productions, the play was a winner in Chicago's Great Gay Play Contest 2012 and follows their sell-out The Glass Protege at Park Theatre in 2015. Multicultural BRIDGE, WAM Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Group and Yvette "Jamuna" Sirker are joining together to present a reading of Facing Our Truth, a collection of six 10-minute plays by Winter Miller, Marcus Gardley, Dominique Morrisseau, Mona Mansour & Tala Manassah, Dan O'Brien with Quetzal Flores, and A. Rey Pamatmat. Reflecting on race relations in the United States, this collection of one-acts was inspired by events surrounding the Trayvon Martin case. Berkshire Theatre Group hosts the event at The Colonial Theatre (111 South Street), February 6, 2015 at 7:30PM with a moderated panel and community discussion to follow.
