St Urban to Present World Premiere at SubCulture, 5/9

St Urban, an intimate and innovative chamber music series, will premiere the second in its series of commissioned works on May 9th at 7:30pm at SubCulture. This year's concert features "Songs for Days To Come," a piece composed by Kinan Azmeh and set to texts by Syrian poets living in exile.

James Taylor to Play Giant Center, 7/9

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Presents FRENCH REVERIES & PASSIONS FESTIVAL, 5/3-24

Guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three weeks of programs that focus on symphonic and operatic repertoire by Ravel, Debussy and Messiaen, as part of the French Reveries & Passions festival, which begins May 3. In addition to three CSO programs, the three-week festival also includes recitals by two young French pianists, an evening of jazz by French artists, chamber music performed by CSO musicians and the CSO's Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant Yo-Yo Ma, a performance by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and a public discussion between the CSO's Creative Director of Beyond The Score® Gerard McBurney and the Art Institute of Chicago's David and Mary Winton Green curator and Impressionist expert Gloria Groom.

Reflections Series International to Perform NATURE'S BOUNTY, 5/21

NEW YORK, NY — On Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 7:30pm, violinist and artistic director Gil Morgenstern's acclaimed Reflections Series International will present its final concert of the 2014-2015 season, “Nature's Bounty,” at Avenues: The World School (259 Tenth Ave.). The program will feature Morgenstern with violinist Harumi Rhodes, violist Kathryn Lockwood, cellist Astrid Schween, and percussionist Yousif Sheronick, performing music and text inspired by composers' personal encounters with both natural and man-made landscapes; immortalizing them through works of unparalleled beauty and drama. This artistic journey, from flowing crystalline streams in China to the haunting terrain of the Middle East to the wide-open prairies of the American Great Plains, includes music by Antonin Dvo?ák, Zhou Long, and Riyad El-Soumbati, along with text from the works of Mary Shelly, Naguib Mahfouz, and Gaetano Cipolla, narrated by Obie Award-winning actor Bill Camp.

Yo-Yo Ma to Perform DVORAK with Pacific Symphony Orchestra, 5/5

Orange County, Calif.—April 14, 2015—Widely considered the greatest cellist alive today, Yo-Yo Ma makes a special Orange County appearance to honor Music Director Carl St.Clair's 25th anniversary season with Pacific Symphony. One of classical music's true superstars and an ambassador for the art form, Ma performs the passionate and ground-breaking Cello Concerto by Antonin Dvo?ák. Filled with dramatic flair and romantic singing lines, the concerto captures the human quality of the solo instrument like none before it. Led by St.Clair, the Symphony shines with another virtuosic masterpiece as Modest Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition” opens the concert. Arranged for orchestra by Maurice Ravel, the original 15-part piano work was written both to create a musical evocation of a series of paintings and to memorialize the artist who painted them, Viktor Hartmann. Anne-Sophie Mutter Rounds Out Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series Tonight

Celebrated violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter concludes her residency as one of this season's Carnegie Hall Perspectives artists with two April concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. She is joined by pianist Yefim Bronfman and cellist Lynn Harrell for a chamber program featuring Beethoven's Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97, 'Archduke' and Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A Minor, Op. 50 tonight, April 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Deborah Voigt Stars in THE MERRY WIDOW, Beginning Tonight at Michigan Opera Theatre

“Internationally renowned … for her unique combination of exquisite singing and hilarious comic acting” (Vanity Fair), Deborah Voigt turns her talents to operetta next month, when she makes her title role debut in Lehár's The Merry Widow. In a new production from award-winning director Kelly Robinson at Michigan Opera Theatre, the soprano will head a cast that also features Roger Honeywell, Amanda Squitieri, Aaron Blake, and Richard Suart as Baron Mirko Zeta, with Gerald Steichen leading from the pit (tonight, April 11–19).

Medici.tv to Stream Live Webcast of NY Philharmonic at Philharmonie de Paris, 4/25

On Saturday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m., EDT, medici.tv (www.medici.tv) will present a free, live webcast of the New York Philharmonic's concert, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, of 20th- and 21st-century music at the newly opened Philharmonie de Paris, marking the first time an American orchestra is performing at the venue.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus, announces the casting of the world premiere of Crossing, an opera by Matthew Aucoin, directed by Diane Paulus, featuring the chamber orchestra A Far Cry, produced in association with Music-Theatre Group.

Itzhak Perlman to Perform with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, 4/28

MILWAUKEE, WIS. 04/07/2015 – The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents An Evening with Itzhak Perlman on April 28, 2015at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Associate Conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong leads the orchestra in Brahms's Symphony No. 2, and Itzhak Perlman plays Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor.

Grammy Winner Chris Botti to Return to the Grand, 5/3
