Brooklyn Music School (BMS) announces a Masterclass with renowned violinist Colin Jacobsen on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 12 pm - 1 pm at 126 St. Felix Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217. 

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra presents celebrated clarinetist Anthony McGill, making his LACO debut, in a Baltic-influenced program led by guest conductor Thomas Dausgaard, Music Director Designate of the Seattle Symphony, on Saturday, October 27, 8 pm, at the Alex Theatre, and Sunday, October 28, 2018, 7 pm, at Royce Hall. McGill, Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, performs Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto, and the concerts also feature Sibelius' Symphony No. 3, Part's Silouan's Song and Grieg's Two Norwegian Airs. LACO's vibrant and engaging Orchestral Series showcases the ensemble's remarkable artistry and trademark mix of orchestral masterpieces and new works from today's leading composers, as well as the much-admired collaborative style between LACO artists.

Pipa virtuoso Wu Man takes the stage at Carnegie Hall to give the U.S. premieres of two concertos scored for traditional Chinese instruments, performing with the Taipei Chinese Orchestra (TCO) on Tuesday, November 6 at 8:00 p.m. 

CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov leads the Columbus Symphony, guest soprano Alexandra Razskazoff, guest mezzo-soprano Siena Licht Miller, guest tenor Jonas Marcel Hacker, guest bass-baritone Andrew Bogard, and the Columbus Symphony Chorus in an unforgettable performance of Handel's deeply spiritual oratorio, Messiah. The work will be performed in its entirety and is the first time the Columbus Symphony has done so since 2010.

An artist with breathtaking talent and charismatic stage presence, Grammy Award-nominated pianist Yuja Wang curates a six-concert Perspectives series during Carnegie Hall's 2018-2019 season, demonstrating the singular blend of technical prowess, keen musical insight, and quicksilver versatility that has established her as one of the world's finest performers. Ms. Wang's series offers creative collaborations, reunions with recital partners and artists who have influenced her career, and a night of classical music comedy-all displaying the pianist's eclectic interests and versatility.

This fall, composer, vocalist, and mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile begins his season-long residency as holder of Carnegie Hall's 2018-2019 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair. Thile-a multiple Grammy Award winner and MacArthur Fellow-will be featured in a five-concert residency that spans the breadth of his musical endeavors, revealing the unique art of a performing composer as well as the evolution of collaborative composition.

ODC Theater is proud to present dancer and choreographer Bobbi Jene Smith in collaboration with violinist Keir GoGwilt in the world premiere of WITH CARE, November 1 - 3. Co-commissioned by ODC Theater and American Modern Opera Company, With Care is a follow-up to the artists' first collaboration, A Study on Effort, performed at ODC Theater in 2017. On the morning of Wednesday, December 19, sixty-four of the nation's most gifted music students between the ages of 16 and 23 will meet for the first time under the baton of conductor Jaime Laredo to form the 50th New York String Orchestra, a program under the auspices of The New School's Mannes School of Music.

As part of the University of Saint Joseph's 4th Annual Chapel Series, The Art of the Duo will be performing on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 7:30 pm in the Connor Chapel at the University of Saint Joseph.

The 25th annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival will fill the streets of downtown Bloomington, Indiana with sights and sounds from around the globe (September 27-30, 2018).  Thirty international artists, free large-scale art installations, and events for all ages will fill 14 downtown Bloomington venues with palpable energy and an eclectic blend of global sound and spectacle. Venues range in style from the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater, to contemplative church settings, to pavement-quaking outdoor dance tents and even a pop-up 360° video-immersion space. American Symphony Orchestra's 2018-19 season will open with A Walt Whitman Sampler on October 17 at Carnegie Hall, and has announced that rising American soprano Angel Blue will sing the New York premiere of Franz Schreker's Vom ewigen Leben (From Eternal Life).

Nicole Cabell and Alyson Cambridge, celebrated American sopranos and close friends, record together for the first time on 'Sisters in Song,' a new Cedille Records album of opera duets and specially commissioned duet arrangements of classical songs, African-American spirituals, and a folk tune, accompanied by the Lake Forest Symphony conducted by Vladimir Kulenovic.

The world-renowned Emerson String Quartet celebrates the 80th birthday of American composer and pianist, winner of the National Medal of Arts, Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award, William Bolcom at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 5 PM.  Joined by the acclaimed pianist Shai Wosner, the Quartet performs Bolcom's Piano Quintet No. 1.

This fall, cello soloist Maya Beiser and composer/conductor Evan Ziporyn embark on a U.S. tour with Ziporyn's Ambient Orchestra, bringing Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar to the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA (Friday, October 12); the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT (Saturday, October 13), Bass Concert Hall presented by Texas Performing Arts in Austin, TX (Thursday, November 1), and Bing Concert Hall presented by Stanford Live in Stanford, CA (Wednesday, November 7). Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar is a startling and soaring new version of David Bowie's entire last album Blackstar for solo cello and orchestra. Arranged for Beiser by Ziporyn, who will also conduct Ambient Orchestra, Bowie Symphonic: Blackstar has been performed to capacity audiences in Boston, Barcelona, and New York City's Central Park SummerStage. For the fall tour, Ambient Orchestra is joined by musicians from Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
