Jerry Seinfeld, Kristin Chenoweth & More to Headline Saenger Theatre's Reopening Lineup

After more than eight years, the historic Saenger Theatre will proudly reopen its doors this fall with a grand opening celebration, featuring a lineup of performances commemorating the city's love for live entertainment of all kinds. The initial announcement includes a variety of entertainment beginning on Sept. 28 and continuing through Jan. 10 of 2014. Additional performances will be announced as they are confirmed. The Saenger Theatre is currently undergoing a $52 million restoration led by the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation, and ACE Theatrical Group.

Long Beach Opera Announces 2014 Season: QUEENIE PIE, THE DEATH OF KLINGHOFFER & More!

Long Beach Opera's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek announces the company's 2014 plans to produce five rarely performed 20th and 21st century, "Out Of Bounds," operas. The new season includes the Southern California premieres of Duke Ellington's "street opera" Queenie Pie and John Adams' controversial The Death of Klinghoffer; An American Soldier's Tale, Kurt Vonnegut 's provocative remake of Igor Stravinsky'sThe Soldier's Tale paired with Wynton Marsalis' jazz-driven A Fiddler's Tale; and a reprise of LBO audience favorite, David Lang's haunting The Difficulty of Crossing a Field. Three of the five composers-Adams, Marsalis and Lang-are actively contributing to today's music scene, while Stravinsky and Ellington made indelible marks on 20th century music.

Matt Damon, Christine Baranski Join for Public Theater's Public Forum Lineup at The Delacorte, 6/17

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) and the Aspen Institute Arts Program (Director, Damian Woetzel) announced today that Christine Baranski, Gloria Reuben and Matt Damon will join the free Public Forum, WHAT ARE WE WORTH? David Lynch Foundation to Launch DLF Live at Bonnaroo, 6/15

The David Lynch Foundation will launch its new performance division, DLF Live, at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on June 15, 2013. DLF Live will harness the power of arts and creativity to bring meditation to at-risk communities. The launch will be marked by a screening of Meditation, Creativity, Peace, a documentary highlighting filmmaker David Lynch and his decades-long dedication to meditation and the arts. The screening is sponsored by the David Lynch Foundation (DLF) and will be hosted by James McCartney, musician and son of legend Paul McCartney and Bob Roth, Executive Director of DLF.

Louis Armstrong House to Kick Off HOT JAZZ / COOL GARDEN Series, 7/4

NYC's summer concert season just got very cool with the Hot Jazz / Cool Garden 2013. Three hot NYC jazz bands will play in Louis's Garden this summer: Bria's Hot Five with Bria Skonberg on July 4th - Louis Armstrong's birthday, Jon-Erik Kellso and the EarRegulars on July 20th and Peter & Will Anderson Sextet on August 17th. Each concert is at 2:00 pm. Concerts include complimentary red beans n' rice (Louis's favorite recipe) & sweet tea. And, since Louis always celebrated his birthday on July 4th birthday cake will be served during the Fourth of July event to celebrate!

National YoungArts Foundation Opens 2014 Applications; Launches Design Arts Program

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), a non-profit that recognizes and supports the nation's most talented young artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts, has announced that its 2014 application will be available online at http://www.youngarts.org/apply from May 31, 2013 through October 18, 2013. This year, students with an interest in architecture and design are also encouraged to apply for the inaugural YoungArts Design Arts program.

American Composers Orchestra Names Derek Bermel Artistic Director

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announced last night at its Spring Benefit at Tribeca Rooftop that composer and clarinetist Derek Bermel will be the orchestra's new Artistic Director, commencing with the 2013-14 season. Bermel has been ACO's Creative Advisor since 2009, and succeeds composer Robert Beaser who has been ACO's Artistic Director since 2000 and was ACO's Artistic Advisor from 1993. Bermel joins Music Director George Manahan, who has just renewed his contract with ACO for an unprecedented five years, in leading the ensemble in its mission to be a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music.

Tickets Go on Sale 5/22 for Lincoln Center's MIDSUMMER NIGHT SWING

Tickets go on sale for Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing starting Wednesday, May 22. Individual tickets are $17, which includes a dance lesson with a professional instructor followed by two sets of dancing under the stars to a live orchestra. This summer marks the 25th Anniversary season of Midsummer Night Swing, and to celebrate, tickets will be sold at a special '2 for $25' price on May 22 only. There are also Midsummer Night Passes priced at $84 for six admissions, and $170 for the full season. Four-admission passes are available for $60.

Joe's Pub Makes Brooklyn Debut at Great GoogaMooga Festival Today

Joe's Pub at The Public will make its debut in Brooklyn as a co-presenter at the second annual Great GoogaMooga Festival in Prospect Park. The three-day outdoor food, drink and music festival is produced by Superfly Presents and will take place today, May 17 through Sunday, May 19, 2013. The Joe's Pub Stage will host eight performances on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19.
