Louis Armstrong House Museum welcomes Peter & Will Anderson Sextet, one of NYC's hottest jazz bands, to Louis's house on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2pm. This is the final concert in the museum's Hot Jazz / Cool Garden Summer Concert Series and it's a must-have ticket this summer. Multi-award winning performer, Rita Moreno, will take the stage on Saturday, August 17 for an exclusive benefit performance in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Napa Valley Opera House. This is a special performance as Moreno wowed the Opera House audience in 2003 when the historic building reopened to the public after years of renovation.

The John S. and James L. To kick off its 20th Anniversary Season, Smuin Ballet will head to Montana, the home state of late founder Michael Smuin, to present a tour that includes Smuin's much-loved Sinatra ballet Fly Me to the Moon, as well as the acclaimed Dear Miss Cline from company Choreographer-in-Residence Amy Seiwert and Jazzin', a saucy and seductive work by Darrell Grand Moultrie. Smuin Ballet's Montana tour will play September 8 - 9 in Michael Smuin's hometown of Missoula at the Montana Repertory Theatre and September 13 at the Mansfield Theatre, Great Falls. The Great Falls performance will benefit McLaughlin Research Institute for Biomedical Sciences, with which Smuin Ballet shares a close connection.
Emmy Award-nominated actor Dulé Hill will return to the stage in After Midnight, marking his first appearance in a musical since Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk. With his own unique song and dance style, Hill will serve as 'The Host' of the evening, leading the audience through the heat and glamour of the Harlem Renaissance using the words of Langston Hughes.

The new season includes the Southern California premieres of Duke Ellington's “street opera” Queenie Pie and John Adams' controversial The Death of Klinghoffer; An American Soldier's Tale, Kurt Vonnegut 's provocative remake of Igor Stravinsky'sThe Soldier's Tale paired with Wynton Marsalis' jazz-driven A Fiddler's Tale; and a reprise of LBO audience favorite, David Lang's haunting The Difficulty of Crossing a Field. Three of the five composers–Adams, Marsalis and Lang–are actively contributing to today's music scene, while Stravinsky and Ellington made indelible marks on 20th century music.
