Chan Centre to Offer Jazz Double Bill, 2/15

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is proud to present an evening of jazz and cross-genre musical exploration in a spectacular double bill featuring drummer, composer, producer, and entrepreneur, Terri Lyne Carrington's Mosaic Project and vocalist and Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition winner Cécile McLorin Salvant on Sunday, February 15 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. The concert will be preceded by a pre-concert talk with Terri Lyne Carrington, moderated by CBC's Margaret Gallagher, at 6:15pm in the Royal Bank Cinema, during which Carrington will discuss her GRAMMY Award-winning The Mosaic Project.

Centenary Stage Company to Close January Jazz Fest, 1/24

Join Centenary Stage Company as they wrap up their annual January Jazz Fest on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. in the Sitnik Theater with the music of the legendary Django Reinhardt by Fete Manouche. The Sitnik Theater is located in the David and Carol Lackland Center on the campus of Centenary College.

FirstWorks to Bring MUMMENSCHANZ to Providence, 1/22

MUMMENSCHANZ, the legendary Swiss mask troupe that revolutionized wordless theatrical entertainment, will be in Providence this month to thrill audiences of all ages with its famously uproarious performances and to kick off the FirstWorks 2015 "Artistic Icons" series. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. Public Theater to Present THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER as Part of Public Forum, 12/14

The Public Theater announced the return of Public Forum's holiday tradition, a one-night-only Drama Club reading and discussion of THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER on Sunday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe's Pub at The Public. Just in time for the holidays, this exciting evening will feature a reading of Thornton Wilder's 1931 one-act featuring Tarell Alvin McCraney, Ethan Lipton, Andrew Solomon, and Tappan Wilder. Wilder's ingenious, heartbreaking play traces 90 years in the life of an American family, and will spark a discussion about family and storytelling in a society that's rapidly accelerating.
