Ms. Collins' three week engagement runs through September 29 where she is joined by her musical director Russell Walden. Stephen Holden of the New York Times hails Ms. Collins performance as evoking “the kind of ethereal, far-sighted reflection that is her special artistic territory'. Ms. Collins unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes have captivated audiences for over fifty years and landed her a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame. But beyond that Strawberry Theatre Workshop's production of "This Land - Woody Guthrie" manages to transcend the music and the message and land itself into a realm of charming and simple grace.

Englert Theatre Announces Centennial Events

The Englert Theatre has announced its Centennial Celebration programming schedule. The programming will run from October 11 to November 8, and feature world-renowned artists including: Alloy Orchestra, Kronos Quartet, Rosanne Cash, Marilynne Robinson, and The Klezmatics. The celebration will also highlight Iowa-based talent with a special event called the Iowa City Song Project.

Following hard on the heels of a successful revival of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Strawberry Theatre Workshop continues what's being described as 'a season of agitation and propaganda' with a second company classic, This Land | Woody Guthrie, a play for actors and puppets derived from the music, drawing, and writing of folk artist Woody Guthrie. Strawshop's 2004 production of This Land was the first show in the company's history.
