The 2012-2013 Waxlax Second Stage season continues with the musical, Woody Sez, The Life and Music of Woody Guthrie. Devised by David M. Lutkin with Nick Corley, Woody Sez takes the Waxlax Stage from March 7 - 24, 2013 and is sponsored by Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers.

California songwriter and seminal folk artist Joel Rafael was awarded the top prize in Folk/Americana/Roots at 2013's International Acoustic Music Awards for his song 'Dance Around My Atom Fire.'

Beginning at 4 p.m., three hours before the main awards show, the pre-telecast ceremony announced awards in 70 additional categories, including Best Musical Theater Album. In other theatre-related news, Safe & Sound (From The Hunger Games) by T Bone Burnett, Taylor Swift, John Paul White & Joy Williams beat SMASH's Let Me Be Your Star by Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman for Best Song Written For Visual Media .

HARD TRAVELIN' WITH WOODY, directed by and featuring Randy Noojin, will play North Coast Rep tonight, February 10, 2013, at 7:30 PM.

The Pepperdine University Fine Arts Division announces several music, opera, and theatre performances, listed below, during the months of February through April 2013.

More than 130 guitars-owned by greats including Roy Rogers, Charlie Christian, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Woody Guthrie, Buddy Holly, Les Paul and others-will be displayed together for the first time ever, when Guitars! Roundups to Rockers, presented by Eli Lilly & Company, opens at The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art on Saturday, March 9. The exhibit explores the Western connections of guitars and artists who have provided the soundtrack for America. The experience, including interactive content, is guaranteed to appeal to guitar gearheads, musicians and everyday music lovers of genres from Western swing to wailing rock, thrashing punk to bouncing jazz.

Mindpix Corporation today announced that it has completed the digitization of the first 2,500 songs of its catalog of over 17,500 songs by renowned artists. Railroad Earth will kick off their 2013 Winter Tour with a three night run at the Ogden Theater in Denver, CO on January 18th. The first of 21 stops along the national tour, the band is slated to perform headlining dates across the country with stops in Minneapolis, St Louis, Chicago, Asheville, Atlanta, Boston, New York City and San Francisco just to name a few, and all before the end of March. The acclaimed Swedish singer-songwriter Elin Ruth released her Bang EP this week (11/27). The four song EP precedes her full length, eponymous US debut which comes out on January 29, 2013.
