Photo Coverage: York Theatre Celebrates SMILING, THE BOY FELL DEAD Opening with Sheldon Harnick and More!

The York Theatre Company continues the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with Smiling, The Boy Fell Dead with Book by Ira Wallach, Music by David Baker, and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The creative team includes director James Glossman with music direction by Joseph Baker, and casting by Geoff Josselson. The limited engagement will play 5 performances ONLY February 21-23, 2014 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The Quint Quintet Plays Madison Theatre Today

Today, December 8 at 3:00pm, renowned violinist Philippe Quint's Quint Quintet will perform 'A Night of Tango' at Molloy College's Madison Theatre (1000 Hempstead Ave.) The Quint Quintet was founded by the four-time Grammy Award Nominated violinist in 2009. The ensemble is dedicated to exploring the music of Astor Piazzolla and Argentine Tango. The quintet will include bandoneonist JP Jofre, double bassist Pedro Giraudo, electric guitarist Claudio Ragazzi, and pianist Octavio Brunetti. Russian tango dancers Michael Nadtochi and Zoya Altmark will also appear.

TACT Announces Post-Show Discussion Series for NATURAL AFFECTION

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris and Jenn Thompson, Co-Artistic Directors), the critically-acclaimed company 'dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit,' and named '2012 Company of the Year' by Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal, have announced a series of post performance discussions to follow select performances of its production of Natural Affection by William Inge. TACT Co-Artistic Director Jenn Thompson directs.

The 58th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall, it was announced today by Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania.com, which will present the awards ceremony. Shugart is managing Executive Producer of Drama Desk Awards. Joey Parnes Productions will produce and manage the show. The President of Drama Desk is Isa Goldberg.

OrangeMite Studios to Present THE ADVENTURES OF THE MYSTERIOUS TIGERMAN, 8/3-12

Join OrangeMite Studios this summer for the organization's fifth original musical, "The Adventures of the Mysterious Tigerman". Written by William Wolfgang and Jesse Rupp (the minds who brought you "Heavy Lies the Crown" and "Starcross'd"), this show 'combines Rupp's knack for song writing with Wolfgang's story and characters, which he starting writing at the age of four.'

A continental breakfast will be available at 8:45 AM. Drama Desk winners Donna Murphy and Brian d'Arcy James will announce the nominations in the various categories. In addition, there will be remarks by Drama Desk President Isa Goldberg, Drama Desk Awards Executive Producer Robert R. Blume and new Drama Desk Awards Executive Producer Gretchen Shugart, Nominating Committee Chairperson Barbara Siegel and Randie Levine-Miller, Drama Desk Director of Special Events, who annually produces this event.
