Center Theatre Group is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 August Wilson programs - the August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) and the CTG August Wilson In-School Residency Program.
The Jewish Museum is presenting Chagall Family Day, a fun-filled multi-generational event celebrating the exhibition Chagall: Love, War, and Exile on Sunday, October 6 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Activities include two performances by imaginative kids' rock band The Pop Ups, a huge drop-in art workshop, original puppets and costumes with the Puppeteers' Cooperative, painting sessions, and family tours. Two years ago, on September 15, 2011, Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning 'critics' pick,' played its first performance at Paper Mill Playhouse. Ever since that very first night, Newsies fans, self-proclaimed 'fansies,' have been a cause for celebration, helping to propel the show from a limited regional theatre run to a limited Broadway engagement and then to extend into a record-breaking open-ended run. According to reporst, Disney is 'trying to secure either the Piccadilly or the Savoy theatres' for Spring 2014. A venue may be announced as early as next week.
