New York Live Arts, in partnership with Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, presents Rashaad Newsome's multifaceted BLACK MAGIC at New York Live Arts (Live Arts), Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC), and Icebox Project Space (Icebox), September 12 - November 30, 2019. The project includes an exhibition at PPAC, installation at New York Live Arts, and performances at Live Arts and Icebox. BLACK MAGIC is a holistic reflection on agency, Blackness, and the futurity of intersectional identities and oppression.
Bill T. Jones, MacArthur Genius Award and National Medal of Arts awardee and Artistic Director of New York Live Arts, and Janet Wong, Associate Artistic Director, announced the New York Live Arts' fall 2019-2020 season today. 'Is there such a thing as 'we'? How and why do we come together? What makes a community? These questions are on our minds as we enter our 9th season. How do artists embody and shed light on these questions?', said the team.
BalletX, led by Artistic & Executive Director Christine Cox, will perform a Pop Up on the Rooftop Terrace of the Parkway Central Free Library on Friday, June 28 at 4:30pm-5:00pm. The Pop-Up performance will feature an excerpt of The Little Prince, a full-length story ballet for the whole family by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's classic novella, and being performed by BalletX in its entirety at The Wilma Theater, July 10-21. Immediately following the Pop Up, Lopez Ochoa will participate in a Q&A from 5:00pm-5:30pm, moderated by Joan DeJean, University of Pennsylvania's Trustee Professor of Romance Languages in the French and Francophone Studies department. The first 100 Pop Up attendees will receive a complimentary edition of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince (one copy per family). The event is free and open to the public.

Theatre Philadelphia proudly announces the return of Philly Theatre Week with 81 organizations, 100 events and 315+ performances between February 7 to 17, 2019. This new 10-day celebration will showcase the vibrant and diverse theatre scene in the tri-state region, and help make theatre even more accessible to the community. Participating organizations range from professional regional theatres, to local community theaters, to self-producing artists, and everything in between. Events will include full performances, workshops, panels and more in Philadelphia and suburbs, plus in New Jersey and Delaware. All tickets for participating shows are free, $15 or $30. “Schooled,” a spinoff of the hit comedy series “The Goldbergs,” will make its premiere on The ABC Television Network, WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9. “Schooled” will air Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., following “The Goldbergs.” “American Housewife” will move to Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m., beginning TUESDAY, FEB. 5, on the network. ABC also announced that it has added an additional episode to the “American Housewife” season order. The series is produced by ABC Studios.
It's a spooktacular Halloween countdown on ABC as the network's comedies, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “America's Funniest Home Videos” all celebrate with special programming leading up to the holiday. The week of Oct. 29, frightening events take place on “General Hospital.” On Halloween, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airs the13th Annual Half & Half Halloween Costume Pageant as part of the evening's festivities. Classic Halloween specials “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “Toy Story OF TERROR!” also return for encore performances.

Inis Nua Theatre Company will open its 15th anniversary season with the Philadelphia premiere of The Monster in the Hall, written by Scottish playwright David Greig. This funny musical play about family, love and really big motorcycles is the second production Inis Nua will stage by Grieg, following the company's 2014 breakout hit Midsummer [a play with songs]. Midsummer went on to earn four Barrymore Award nominations. Monster will be directed by Claire Moyer and stars Claris Park, Doug Durlacher, Eleni Delopoulos and Jamison Foreman. Previews run October 3 and 4, with Opening Night set for October 5, 2018. The show runs until October 21 for a total of 15 performances. All performances will take place at the Louis Bluver Theatre at the Drake, 302 S Hicks Street in Philadelphia.
