Steve Reich's 80th birthday is being celebrated all over town, but one party stands above the rest: Wall to Wall Steve Reich, an eight-hour marathon of his music on April 30, 2017 at Symphony Space. And unlike other Reich anniversary events, this one is FREE.

New York City Children's Theater kicked off its 20th anniversary with the sold out, critically acclaimed musical Wringer, which the New York Times called 'fun from beginning to end' with 'a clever script, catchy tunes, and fine performances.' After reading William Carlos Williams' 'The Doctor Stories,' author Charles T. Chase's patients began to haunt him. A flood of memories would come back to him while musing in elevators, driving in his car or winding down in his desk at the end of the work day. Thus began the task of penning down the stories in a journal, leaving every detail as accurately as they were remembered. The stories piled up and these became the cornerstone for his anthology, 'The Doctor's Stories' (published by Xlibris). The collection receives its new marketing campaign after its successful release in 2014.

In 1980, Warren Kliewer founded East Lynne Theater Company after extensive research and the discovery that there were no professional theater companies in this country dedicated to the performance, study and preservation of America's 200-year-old theatrical heritage. He named his Equity professional company after a popular late-nineteenth century American play. Based, ironically, on an English novel, "East Lynne" was the "Downton Abbey" of its day.

In these poems, the joys and struggles of the everyday are played against the grinding politics of being human. Beginning in a hotel room in the dark of a distant city, we travel through history and follow the memory of the Trail of Tears from the bend in the Tallapoosa River to a place near the Arkansas River. Stomp dance songs, blues, and jazz ballads echo throughout. Lost ancestors are recalled. Resilient songs are born, even as they grieve the loss of their country. Called a 'magician and a master' (San Francisco Chronicle), Joy Harjo is at the top of her form in Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings.

Bainbridge Performing Arts is deeply saddened by the loss of former actor, poet, instructor, mentor, and dear friend, Bob McAllister. Bob's BPA career included appearances in Twelve Angry Men and Noises Off, and his poetry was exhibited in the BPA Gallery. He also appeared in the Indie film Jurisdiction, playing Tommy Tongue, the anti-hero psychopath. Bob had an abiding love of theatre, and he had an unshakeable commitment to the community of artists he mentored, loved, and collaborated with at Bainbridge Performing Arts and the Island's entire theatre community.

New Line Theatre, 'the bad boy of musical theatre,' closes its 22nd season May 30-June 22, 2013, with the regional premiere of one of the most outrageous shows the company has ever produced. With book and lyrics by Spencer Green and Gary Stockdale, and music by Stockdale, BUKOWSICAL is a wacky, high-energy - and gleefully adult - musical comedy, an ironic and insightful 21st-century reboot of the classic American musical comedy, exploring the intersection between sex, drugs, booze, and art, all through the life story of the great American novelist and poet Charles Bukowski. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!
