World Premiere of THE UNBLEACHED AMERICAN to Wrap Stoneham Theatre's 14th Season in 2014

The Unbleached American tells the story of Ernest Hogan, the 'father of ragtime' and the first African American to perform on Broadway. Beloved by his fans and wealthy beyond his wildest dreams, Hogan was also an infamous writer of 'coon songs' that many considered offensive to his own race. The Unbleached American imagines the relationship between Ernest and the woman sent to care for him at the end of his life.

BYE BYE BIRDIE, JEKYLL AND HYDE and More Set for Stoneham Theatre's Young Company, Summer 2013

Even though there are still traces of snow, Stoneham Theatre's young company is gearing up for summer by announcing its Summer Festival's line-up of shows. 'Just like on the Mainstage, we strive to bring our young actors and audiences a variety,' Director of Education Caitlin Lowans shared. 'I think that becomes especially important in our act 3 festival for high school actors who are looking for new experiences and more advance methods. We're doing world-premiere work and edgy, complex musicals that students won't find in any other summer training program.'

Every year, Stoneham Theatre seeks out stories and shows that will entertain, amuse, and surprise audiences. 'We pride ourselves on our variety,' Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared. 'And this season is no different, with new and familiar titles and hopefully something a little unexpected.' Stoneham Theatre's Season 14 boasts a hip new comedy direct from Broadway, a fresh take on a classic horror story, a holiday favorite, a silly, murder mystery musical, a Tony Award-winning musical, and one show yet to be announced. 'We are very excited to present our 14th season of professional theatre right here in Metro North and pleased to share this new slate of shows with the public,' Managing Director Debra Rafson added.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, DISTANT MUSIC, and More Featured in Stoneham Theatre's 2012-13 Season

Stoneham Theatre is opening season 13 with a statement of who they are. Stoneham Theatre…suburban theatre with a twist. "In the past, we haven't really featured the fact that we are in the suburbs," Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared, "because it has seemed to cause confusion. I think for some reason people don't expect the level of professionalism or they expect to see different programming. But we are proud of our community and the work that we do here. Our 13th season is the perfect time to share that."
