Stoneham Theatre and Gloucester Stage join forces for two consecutive seasons to produce the New England premieres of all four of The Apple Family plays by Richard Nelson. Striving to achieve a common mission, this partnership further enables both theatres to proliferate and produce new and rarely performed works, enriching the art of live theatre in Greater Boston's northern suburbia to the shores of Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
This summer, Stoneham Theatre presents veteran folk-singer-songwriter Judy Collins in An Evening with Judy Collins for two performances on June 13–14, 2015. “Stoneham Theatre is proud to bring this outstanding Grammy Award-winning artist to our stage,” said Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes. “Judy Collins' legendary singing has been captivating audiences for five decades. We know our audiences will be uplifted and entertained by her performance in our intimate venue.”

THE SECRET GARDEN needs a good dose of Miracle-Gro to overcome a lack of vitality. A beautiful, lush score is weighed down by the sluggishness of the tale and static direction. The company has the vocals to do justice to the music and several performers shine, but this garden has a dearth of color.

A long forgotten African American musical innovator, Hogan attained great success before tumbling into infamy. This important story imagines his relationship with an Irish immigrant nurse charged with caring for him in the final months of his life at the turn of the 20th century.
The Unbleached American tells the story of Ernest Hogan, the 'father of ragtime' and the first African American to perform on Broadway. Beloved by his fans and wealthy beyond his wildest dreams, Hogan was also an infamous writer of 'coon songs' that many considered offensive to his own race. The Unbleached American imagines the relationship between Ernest and the woman sent to care for him at the end of his life.

Stoneham Theatre has a lot to celebrate as they announce their 15th season. Selecting the slate of shows, however, proved to be challenging. 'Choosing an anniversary season is tough,' Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared. 'There is a lot of pressure to get it right. But, in the end, I found I just wanted to choose another season of plays and musicals that represents the kind of work that we love to do: a mix of the familiar and the new, the entertaining and the thought-provoking, and one completely unexpected surprise.'

Written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of the TV show Smash, Seminar is a contemporary comedy which tells the story of four young writers who hire a world-famous novelist to teach a seminar. When tempers, egos and libidos flare, these students end up getting the schooling of their lives. 'Theresa Rebeck is one of the main reasons we are doing this show. She's a wonderfully talented and very funny writer,' Symes added. 'I couldn't pass up the opportunity to produce her newest play.'
Over the past thirteen seasons, Stoneham Theatre has become known for producing great Mainstage productions, developing a superb young company education program, and for bringing a variety of concerts to its stage. Stoneham Theatre's concerts have been mainly 'tributes' to great performers of the past and present...until now.
Even though there are still traces of snow, Stoneham Theatre's young company is gearing up for summer by announcing its Summer Festival's line-up of shows. 'Just like on the Mainstage, we strive to bring our young actors and audiences a variety,' Director of Education Caitlin Lowans shared. 'I think that becomes especially important in our act 3 festival for high school actors who are looking for new experiences and more advance methods. We're doing world-premiere work and edgy, complex musicals that students won't find in any other summer training program.'
