Hamill will be celebrated at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn as part of the Brooklyn Book Festival Gala Mingle today, September 22. Hamill will then be featured at the main Festival on Sunday the 23rd, in conversation with Bill Goldstein (of WNBC-TV's Bill's Books), and joining former BoBi Award winners Edwidge Danticat and Paul Auster for readings moderated by Johnny Temple, chair of the Brooklyn Literary Council.

Sundance Institute has announced the 13 projects selected for its annual June Directors and Screenwriters Labs, taking place at the Sundance Resort in Utah from today, May 28 through June 28. Poet John Ashbery will receive the National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, to be presented by poet Ann Lauterbach. This year's recipient is Jhumpa Lahiri, who was celebrated at the Brooklyn Book Festival Gala Mingle on Saturday, September 17, at the Green Building in Carroll Gardens. Lahiri also participated in this year's Festival program, in a conversation with book critic Liesl Schillinger at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights.
