John Wilkes Booth (1838-1865) was notable on several accounts. He was a successful and wealthy actor, and member of a celebrated show business family (son of Junius Brutus Booth and brother to Edwin and Junius Jr.). One critic called him 'the handsomest man in America.' Walt Whitman called him a genius. But this Booth would ultimately become known as the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln.

One afternoon, Anthony arrives unexpectedly at classmate Caroline's door, bearing a beat-up copy of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, an urgent assignment from their English teacher. Homebound due to illness, Caroline hasn't been to school in months, but she is as quick and sardonic as Anthony is athletic, sensitive, and popular. As these two let down their guard and share their secrets, this seemingly mundane poetry project unlocks a much deeper mystery that has brought them together. I and You is an ode to youth, life, love, and the strange beauty of human connectedness.

Specially performed, filmed and edited for a unique mobile viewing experience, viewers will be able to watch this sold out play on demand for 72 hours from Friday 30 November 6pm GMT until Monday 3 December 6pm GMT.

Pratidhwani - a Seattle area based organization for promoting South Asian performing arts and artists - will present I And You by Lauren Gunderson as a co-production with Theater Schmeater, running October 18th through November 3rd, 2018, performing at Theater Schmeater's home in Bell Town.

Hampstead Theatre hosts the European premiere of Lauren Gunderson's award-winning I and You. The production, directed by artistic director Edward Hall sees the stage debut of Game of Thrones star Masie Williams and the professional debut of Zach Wyatt, who graduated from Guildhall this past June.

Hailed as “one of the great amateur choruses of our time (New York Today) for its “full-bodied sound and suppleness (The New York Times),” The Dessoff Choirs today announced its annual holiday concert series. Now in its 94th year, The Dessoff Choirs continues to wow audiences with its seasonal repertoire performed in some of New York City's most beautiful churches. This season's offerings include a sing-in of Handel's Messiah, contemporary arrangement of carols, and a rare performance of the nine-movement Christmas cantata The Ballad of the Brown King with music by African-American composer Margaret Bonds and text by writer Langston Hughes. (Program details are below.)

Hampstead Theatre presents the UK premiere of Lauren Gunderson's I and You, which was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams makes her stage debut as Caroline, and Zach Wyatt will play Anthony. They will be directed by Artistic Director Edward Hall in this play about friendship, adolescent innocence and living life to the full.

American Symphony Orchestra's 2018-19 season will open with A Walt Whitman Sampler on October 17 at Carnegie Hall, and has announced that rising American soprano Angel Blue will sing the New York premiere of Franz Schreker's Vom ewigen Leben (From Eternal Life). Dubbed by Placido Domingo as "the next Leontyne Price," the young opera singer and BBC Proms host/presenter will next appear in September at the Metropolitan Opera as Musetta in La Boheme, and in the Royal Opera's production of La Traviata as Violetta in January 2019. Edward Nelson is the guest soloist for the New York premiere of Kurt Weill's Four Walt Whitman Songs. Both vocalists will also perform in Ralph Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony.
