Today, from the historic Studebaker Theater, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announced plans for its 2016/17 season, which will bring rarely performed operas and a world premiere to a range of Chicago neighborhoods, will target new types of audiences and will set the stage for a bold future ahead for the company now in its 43rd season. At the event, Andreas Mitisek, COT's Stefan Edlis & Gael Neeson General Director, detailed the ambitious new season, which will feature performances at the Music Box Theatre, the Studebaker Theater Chicago and the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.

Orange County was once again gifted a compact, intermission-free version of Broadway superstar Kristin Chenoweth's 'Coming Home' concert on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts (she performed a version of this concert last year at the Walt Disney Concert Hall). As expected, the spunky and sassy Tony Award Winner---joined on stage by musical director/accompanist Mary-Mitchell Campbell and an excellent four-piece jazz ensemble---wowed the adoring crowd throughout the show with her Southern-fried tales of growing up as a Christian daddy's girl in Oklahoma, who would later rise to meteoric marquee heights on the Broadway stage thanks to her incredible set of vocal pipes and unmissable acting chops. Along the way, she sings a wonderful mix of hilarious ditties, familiar showtunes, and some emotionally-stirring ballads that prove why she's a stunningly good performer.

The San Francisco Symphony returns to Carnegie Hall with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas for two concerts on Wednesday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 14 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. For the first performance, Mr. Tilson Thomas - widely considered the world's premier interpreter of the works of Aaron Copland - conducts music by the American master, including his Orchestral Variations and Inscape. The dynamic pianist Inon Barnatan joins the orchestra for a performance of Copland's Piano Concerto. The program concludes with Schumann's Symphony No. 2 in C Major, Op. 61. This season, Mr. Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony are performing and recording the complete Schumann symphonies for future release on SFS Media.

Theatre Development Fund (TDF), the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, will honor Disney Theatrical Productions and Thomas Schumacher, its president and producer, at TDF's Gala tonight, March 14 at Manhattan's historic Gotham Hall (1356 Broadway @ 36th Street, NYC).

Victory Gardens Theater announces casting for the next show of its 41st season, the world premiere of Hillary and Clinton by Lucas Hnath, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. Carnegie Hall today announced the names of the 109 outstanding young musicians selected from across the country for the fourth annual National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). The members of the 2016 orchestra-ages 16-19, hailing from 32 US states-have been recognized by Carnegie Hall as being among the finest players in the country following a comprehensive and highly competitive audition process. ?Iconic performer and musical chameleon Cyndi Lauper announced today the DETOUR Tour in support of her upcoming studio album, DETOUR, available May 6 on Sire Records. The 19-city tour will kick off May 9 at the "Mother Church of Country Music," Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and will wrap up June 12 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augustine, Florida. Select dates, including New York City's historic Beacon Theatre, will feature a co-headlining performance by Boy George. The tour arrives at the Dr. Phillips Center on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Walt Disney Theater.
