As part of a new initiative supporting promising young artists Off-Broadway, The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director), in association with Patricia Hoag Simon, presents a new lab production of Songs for a New World with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Songs for a New World began performances August 4 for a 6 performance limited engagement with the next performance scheduled for late night Saturday evening, August 11 at 11:00 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's including special late-night performances on Fridays for "the show after the show."(Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Kathy Bates, Elizabeth Perkins, and More Set for STEEL MAGNOLIAS 25th Anniversary Reading, 9/9

On Sunday, September 9th, 2012, David Youse, FOUR THINGS PRODUCTIONS in association with L.A. WORKS will present an unprecedented staged reading of the critically-acclaimed play, "Steel Magnolias" at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica. In partnership with playwright Robert Harling, FOUR THINGS PRODUCTIONS is honored to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of this remarkable story written for Harling's sister whom he lost through complications of diabetes. This very special performance will be directed by two-time Tony Award winner Judith Ivey and will feature Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates, Golden Globe and Emmy-nominee Elizabeth Perkins and Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Annie Potts along with additional cast members to be announced shortly.

Songs for a New World will begin performances today for 6 performances only August 4 - 12, 2012 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's including special late-night performances on Fridays for "the show after the show."(Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Directed by Bethany Christine Elkin (I Love a Piano) and music direction by Justin Fischer (Young Frankenstein), the four-member cast will feature Diana Buchwald (An American Tragedy), Ben Garrett (Rags), Krista Paolella (Edges: A Song Cycle) and Rafael Rodriguez (Evita).

Jason Robert Brown Releases Sheet Music & Accompaniment Set

Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown has just announced in his blog the release of two seperate sheet music book and accompaniment CD sets of his music. He writes: 'My editor at Hal Leonard, the estimable Rick Walters, called me in 2010 with the idea that we should do a book-and-CD folio of me playing accompaniments to my own songs, with a male and female edition. I thought it was a fantastic idea, and now it's finally out in the world!' The Female edition and Male edition are both available on Amazon.com, as well as iTunes and Sheet Music Direct.

SEEING JERUSALEM Continues Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series Tonight

The Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series in NYC continues with a reading of Seeing Jerusalem, a new play by Seth Greenland. The reading is tonight, April 23rd at 7 pm at One on One Studios, 34 West 27th Street, 11th floor (between Broadway and Sixth Avenue). The reading will be directed by Roger Danforth.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Dividing the Estate, the final play by Pulitzer Prize winner Horton Foote. Directed by Michael Wilson, Dividing the Estate will run Jan. 14 - Feb. 12, 2012 in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Jason Robert Brown to Perform Benefit Concert at the Falls Theatre at ACT

Jason Robert Brown, the Tony Award winning composer, will be an honored guest at the Opening Night of his musical 13, Friday December 9 at ACT. On Thursday night, December 8 at 9:00pm, following the preview performance, Jason will present a 90 minute benefit concert at the Falls Theatre at ACT, 700 Union Street, Seattle WA.
