In a departure from its more substantial recent fare, Zeitgeist Stage Company offers up a sugary confection about a cake baking competition in a small Vermont town. Although widely-produced in Canada and the United States, including a run Off-Off Broadway, CAKEWALK is a slight story that is slow to pick up steam. Its humor is driven by its quirky characters and Director David J. Miller fields an endearing ensemble, but the recipe lacks nutritional value.

CPH welcomes back film and stage legend Austin Pendleton to direct this contemporary drama that begs the question 'To whom do you belong?' Sacramento, CA -This year the 33rd annual Elly Awards - Adult Division were announced at the candy-decorated Elks Lodge No. 6 in Sacramento on Sunday night. Named for Eleanor McClatchy, a devoted patron of the arts and former publisher of the Sacramento Bee, the Elly Awards celebrates excellence in Sacramento's local and regional community theater. A grand total of 34 Elly Awards, plus two lifetime achievement awards, were given to individuals and theaters from across a 10-county region in the Adult Division which includes Comedy, Drama, Musicals and Original Works. Sponsored by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (SARTA), this formal event was attended by nearly 300 active community theatre members and their families and friends.

Planet Ant Theatre will kick off its 2015-16 season September 25 with a new original comedy sequel Seance 13 featuring the original cast & crew from the 2011 hit Seance 4 in an all new horror spoof. The season continues through July 2016 with more original comedy, award winning published works and showcase shows from the winners of Box Fest and Colony Fest. In honor of Sally Ann Howes' birthday, Rick McKay, the producer/director of THE GOLDEN AGE FILM TRILOGY, just unveiled a clip of Howes from the documentary film series in which she talks about Rex Harrison's frustration with young actresses playing Eliza in MY FAIR LADY, and why, at the end of his career, he wanted Howes to come back and play the role one more time. In a year that sees a host of events about England's first female Hollywood star, Vivien Leigh returns to the West End this summer. Following the centenary year of her birth and chiming with the new Vivien archive at the V&A, the Vivien season at the BFI and the Starring Vivien Leigh exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Letter To Larry brings the very essence of the celebrated actress to Jermyn Street Theatre over August after its critically acclaimed world premiere in Paris.

Gary Naylor sees a play that explores the impact of early success and the clash of egos as Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier joust for influence.

Dezart Performs' award winning production of 'Invasion of Privacy' will be produced in Florida June 18-15 in the 606-seat Fine Arts Hall at Santa Fe College in Gainesville. Dezart presented the West Coast Premiere of the thought-provoking drama by Larry Parr, about a painful and dramatic episode in the life of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, 'The Yearling.' The drama is set in Florida's 'alligator country,' where Rawlins had settled after her novel's enormous success, and not far from where playwright Parr lives and works today. And now, after its huge success in California, 'Invasion of Privacy' heads to Florida, taking part of the Dezart Performs production with it.

Final casting is announced today for the European premiere of Orson's Shadow, a critically acclaimed comedy by Austin Pendleton, about the time when Hollywood giants Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier worked together for the first time - the inspired idea of legendary theatre critic, Kenneth Tynan.
