This past weekend, my family welcomed a new era of family theatre reporting: My daughter, almost eight, is officially too old for 'Baby Shows' and my son, age three, is ready to sit in a chair for more than 47 seconds. I have a feeling that my kids will be taking turns helping Mommy with her writing job, but this past weekend we found something that was good for for all of us: The Vital Theatre Company's production of Uncle Pirate.

Producer Steve Margetis and Ethos Performing Arts are set to present the New York Premiere of The Family Room, a dramedy written by Emmy Award nominee Aron Eli Coleite and directed by Gwenyth Reitz.

With all the chaos of getting two kids back to school, making the transition from summer to cool weather and preparing for the upcoming High Holidays, it's been hard to get my kids to the theatre. This weekend we'll be back on the family theatre circuit, checking out the return of UNCLE PIRATE at Vital Theatre Company. Until then, here's a sneak peak at what fall in New York has to offer your junior theatre fan:

VITAL THEATRE COMPANY the award-winning theatre company and producer of the long running family show PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL, and HIT Entertainment, a leading provider of quality children's entertainment, are pleased to announce ANGELINA BALLERINATM THE MUSICAL will continue performances at The Theatre at Saint Peter's, September 17th through October 16th, 2011. Book and lyrics by Susan DiLallo , music by Ben Morss and directed and choreographed by Sam Viverito based on the famous dancing mouseling and her friends created by Katharine Holabird and illustrated by Helen Craig. Performances are Saturdays at 12pm and Sundays at 2pm. ANGELINA BALLERINATM THE MUSICAL will return to VITAL THEATRE COMPANY October 21st, 2011 with performances on Fridays at 4:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30pm.

PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL is pleased to announce extended performances at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center September 3rd through October 30th, 2011 with performances Saturdays and Sundays at 11am. The show is appropriate for children ages 2 to 10.
