THE MET: LIVE IN HD Summer Encore Series Returns to Theaters This Summer

The Metropolitan Opera and Fathom Events partner to present "The Met: Live in HD' 2015 Summer Encores," a series of four encore performances from the 2014-2015 Live in HD series in more than 480 U.S. cinemas nationwide through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network.

Bay Street Theater to Present Verdi's LA TRAVIATA, 5/9

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts and Divaria Productions are pleased to announce a shortened, LIVE version of Giuseppe Verdi's LA TRAVIATA on Saturday, May 9 at 8 pm. The evening will highlight Verdi's most famous opera with the most important numbers linked by compelling narrative.

Unexpected Opera to Return to the St James Studio

Unexpected Opera returns to St James Studio this summer with more of its popular singing chat shows. The series will begin on 21st May with Traviata Tells All, in which high society courtesan Violetta Valery, heroine of Verdi's best-loved opera La Traviata, is a guest on Brooklyn mobster Tony LaScala's TV chat show. Arias and scenes from the opera are woven seamlessly into the conversations. All the familiar elements of chat shows will be there: topical humour, cheeky questions, confrontations and audience participation.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Presents MOZART'S GREAT MASS with Masaaki Suzuki This Weekend

One of the world's leading 18th-century music specialists, Japan's Masaaki Suzuki, makes his Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) debut leading the Orchestra in an all-Mozart program, tonight, March 12 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore, and Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. andSaturday, March 14 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Featuring the composer's Don Giovanni Overture and Violin Concerto No. 5, performed by young German violinist Augustin Hadelich, the concert culminates with Mozart's Mass in C minor, otherwise known as the “Great” Mass. The voice of the people sang and spoke out last night in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, Appel Room and Ertegun Atrium. Many of the world's finest musicians, and many of the finest citizens of NYC assembled to celebrate an effort to return 'The People's Opera' to New York. They did so in a Gala Concert and Dinner to honor the life of the late Maestro Julius Rudel, who was the Opera's General Director and Principal Conductor from 1957 to 1979.

Diana Damrau and Vittorio Grigolo to Headline Met's MANON, 3/9

New York, NY (March 4, 2015) – Diana Damrau and Vittorio Grigolo will sing their first Met performances of the title character in Massenet's Manon and her devoted lover, the Chevalier des Grieux. Emmanuel Villaume will conduct the first revival of Laurent Pelly's 2012 Met staging, also starring Russell Braun as Manon's cousin, Lescaut, and Nicolas Testé as the Chevalier's father, the Comte des Grieux. The opera opens March 9 and plays six performances through March 28.

Opera Philadelphia's 41st Season serves as a reminder that the company is, as The Washington Post reports, “taking chances, offering unusual and new work along with repertory staples, and carving out a place for themselves as proponents of American opera.” As General Director & President David B. Devan and Jack Mulroney Music Director Corrado Rovarisannounced today, the carefully curated 2015-2016 lineup offers two new American operas: the East Coast Premiere of Cold Mountain, by composer Jennifer Higdon and librettist Gene Scheer and starring the dream team of Nathan Gunn, Isabel Leonard, and Jay Hunter Morris (February 2016); and the World Premiere of ANDY: A Popera, a Warhol-inspired opera-cabaret featuring a score by Dan Visconti and original songs by Heath Allen (September 2015).

Kenny Ortega Developing Spanish-Language Musical Series

According to Variety, High School Musical creator Kenny Ortega will team up with Solange Keoleyan and Sebastian Parrotta for a new musical television series called 'Bandolero.' The series, which is being produced by Campanario Ent., will be Ortega's first Spanish language project.

Joyce DiDonato to Close Out Carnegie Hall's Perspectives Series with Philadelphia Orchestra, 3/18

Celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato concludes her season-long Carnegie Hall Perspectives series on Wednesday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, joining The Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Maurizio Benini for a program of bel canto arias, ensembles, and orchestral selections with special guests and close colleagues soprano Nicole Cabell and tenor Lawrence Brownlee. Music from Donizetti's Maria di Rohan and L'elisir d'amore, Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Rossini's Zelmira will be performed, along with other pieces.
