Telemundo's “Yo Soy El Artista” (I Am the Artist) concluded the audition rounds last night with the selection of 27 new participants who won over the 100 digital and social media influencers, the celebrity judges, and host Lucero. A total of 53 contestants will face-off to be admitted into the “Escuela de Artistas” (Artist's School) next Sunday, October 5 at 8pm/7c. Viewers will witness the elimination of contestants during this decisive episode that takes place at an impressive hangar, which will become the stage of singing, dancing and performance challenges. In the end, only 14 will be admitted to the school to kick off the Galas, the final phase of the competition, until a winner of “Yo Soy el Artista” is chosen in the grand finale.

On April 29, 2014, Ani Cordero is set to release her new album titled Recordar: Latin American Songs of Love and Protest, revisiting songs from the 1930s-1970s that highlight influential artists who provided the soundtrack for social change. Ani, along with co-producer Sérgio Dias of the legendary Os Mutantes, are re-introducing 11 classic songs and their iconic writers to new audiences. The songs are by musical folk heroes like Víctor Jara, Alí Primera, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Chavela Vargas, Violeta Parra and many more. Recordar re-imagines music from the Nueva Canción movement of Latin American and Iberian folk-inspired and socially-committed music.

The piece pulls together massive forces of orchestra, chorus and soloists for an impassioned and dramatic blockbuster of human emotion. Perhaps best known for the famous 'Dies irae' movement, prevalent in pop culture in movies, advertisements and television, Verdi's masterpiece depicts a journey from terror and darkness to joy and light.
The Metropolitan Opera's 2014-15 season will feature 26 operas, three of them company premieres, in six new productions and 18 revivals showcasing the talents of the world's leading singers, conductors, and theater artists. The three operas that will have their first-ever Met performances, each staged by a director making his Met debut, are John Adams's The Death of Klinghoffer, conducted by David Robertson and directed by Tom Morris, opening October 20; Rossini's La Donna del Lago, conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Paul Curran, opening February 16, 2015; and Tchaikovsky's one-act opera Iolanta, conducted by Valery Gergiev and directed by Mariusz Treli?ski. The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced tonight the complete list of winners for the 2012-13 season. The Bessies, produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, were held at the legendary Apollo Theater at 8:00 p.m., following red carpet interviews and photographs with the nominees in attendance. Former Cunningham dancer Gus Solomons jr. and former American Ballet Theatre principal Martine Van Hamel co-hosted the evening and also performed Paul Taylor's rarely seen 1957 Duet as part of the evening's performances.
