Michael Wilson to Direct Christopher Shinn's PICKED at Vineyard Theatre

Michael Wilson will direct the Vineyard Theatre's world-premiere of Christopher Shinn's play PICKED, set to begin previews April 5 prior to an official opening night April 20 at The Vineyard (108 E. 15 St.), it has been announced by Douglas Aibel, the company's artistic director.

INVASION!, a play by the Swedish playwright and novelist Jonas Hassen Khemiri that has enjoyed great success in numerous European productions, will receive its U.S. premiere -- presented Off-Broadway by The Play Company and directed by Erica Schmidt - with previews beginning February 9 prior to an official opening night on February 21 at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street) in Tribeca, it has been announced by Kate Loewald, Founding Producer and Lauren Weigel, Executive Producer of The Play Company. The English translation of INVASION! is written by Rachel Willson-Broyles.

Following a developmental workshop at the Vineyard in the fall of 2009 and a series of concert readings last summer by New York Stage and Film Company and the Powerhouse Program at Vassar, the musical ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER - with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, music by Burton Lane, a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book byAlan Jay Lerner, and reconceived and directed by Michael Mayer - was supposed to next receive a production at the Vineyard Theatre. Now, reports Michael Riedel in the New York Post, the show will instead head straight to Broadway in the Fall of 2011, starring Harry Connick, Jr. There's no word on who will play his co-star, a role played by Anika Noni Rose at Vassar.
