Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts presents The Tierney Sutton Band

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College will open its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with eight-time GRAMMY®-nominated jazz artist Tierney Sutton. Praised by The New York Times as 'a pure jazz spirit,' Ms. Sutton and her band will perform their 2017 GRAMMY® Award-nominated project The Sting Variations. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased in advance at BrooklynCenter.org or by calling the Brooklyn Center box office at 718-951-4500. Day-of-show tickets should be purchased at the Kumble Theater on the downtown Brooklyn campus of LIU, located at 1 University Plaza, or by calling the Kumble Theater box office at 718-488-1624.

Photo Flash: Hip to Hip Theatre Company Enters Final Week of Performances

Hip to Hip Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Jason Marr is in their final week of performances. Five remaining shows are scheduled for Manhattan, Queens, and Southampton. Now in its eleventh season, Hip to Hip will end their 2017 tour with a performance of Henry IV on Saturday, August 19th at 7:30 pm in Southampton. 

The Chocolate Factory Acquires Permanent Home in Long Island City, Queens

The Chocolate Factory is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a new permanent facility in Western Queens. Located at 38-29 24th Street in Long Island City, the standalone 7,500 square foot, one story industrial building will become the organization's permanent home and will ultimately house all of its performance and residency activity. The new facility is three times larger than its current space and, when open, will include a 99-120 seat flexible performance space with a sprung-wood dance floor, a 2,000 square foot rehearsal space, and office space.

Museum of the Moving Image Hosts Ribbon-Cutting for The Jim Henson Exhibition

At a celebratory opening ceremony for The Jim Henson Exhibition, housed in a new gallery at Museum of the Moving Image funded by The City of New York, the First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray, the Museum's Executive Director Carl Goodman, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, and City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer were joined by Jim Henson's daughter Cheryl Henson, and special appearances by Abby Cadabby, Red Fraggle, and Fozzie Bear, among other guests. This major new exhibition is dedicated to the life and legacy of Jim Henson, who was a singular creative figure in the realms of television, film, and puppetry-and a New Yorker who made the City his base for family and work. The Jim Henson Exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, July 22.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College announces the 2017-18 Jazz Series at the Kumble Theater at LIU Brooklyn as part of its 2017-18 season, celebrating a truly American musical genre with world-class artists that represent both classics from the past and today's more innovative and ever-changing sounds.

HIP TO HIP Announces Free Shakespeare in the Parks

Hip to Hip Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Jason Marr is proud to announce its 2017 season of Free Shakespeare in the Parks. Now in its eleventh season, Hip to Hip will tour in repertory with William Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1: The Prince and the Rebel and Measure for Measure from July 25th to August 20th. The family friendly tour will travel to 12 parks throughout all five boroughs of New York City, Jersey City, and Southampton. 

Daniel Beaty and More Set for Brooklyn Center's 2017-18 Season at Kumble Theater at LIU

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College has announced a series of seven performances at the Kumble Theater at LIU Brooklyn as part of its 2017-18 season. Brooklyn Center will announce additional performances in the fall in conjunction with the opening of the new Leonard and Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College.

League of Independent Theater to Hold Rally for Endorsed 2017 Candidates

The League of Independent Theater (LIT) will hold a rally for the candidates they've endorsed in the 2017 New York City election races on Tuesday, May 23 at 1pm on the steps of the Kraine Theatre at 85 E. 4th St in Manhattan. Many of the candidates chosen participated in LIT's Meet the Candidates forum in March, also at The Kraine Theater. Some of the candidates expected to attend the rally include:
