WriteGirl, the Los Angeles-based creative writing and mentoring organization, in partnership with the acclaimed Pasadena Playhouse is pleased to announce PlayWriteGirl, which will be held May 3 at the Pasadena Playhouse. From 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., more than 65 teen girls from Pasadena and beyond, along with their mentors, will participate in the workshop part of PlayWriteGirl. They will learn about monologue and scene-writing in sessions led by guest writers, including screenwriter Robin Swicord (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), screenwriter Gina Prince-Bythewood (Secret Life of Bees), producer Jennifer Crittenden (The New Adventures of Old Christine, Seinfeld), Martha Williamson and Jule Selbo (Touched by an Angel) and playwrights Laural Meade and Jennie Webb.

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. Guys and Dolls stars Oliver Platt ('Nathan Detroit'), Lauren Graham ('Miss Adelaide'), Craig Bierko ('Sky Masterson') and Kate Jennings Grant ('Sarah Brown'). The first joint Broadway project by two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo since their collaboration on the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys, Guys and Dolls began previews on February 5, 2009 at Broadway's newly refurbished Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). The cast celebrated Opening Night on March 1, 2009 and BroadwayWorld's cameras greeted the starry arrivals.

'Lansky,' a new one-man drama written by Richard Krevolin and Joe Bologna about the little-known efforts of Meyer Lansky to move to Israel to make aliyah after a fruitful career as the mob's moneyman, begins previews Off-Broadway on Friday January 23 at the St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street. Directed by Joseph Bologna, 'Lansky' stars the two-time Drama Desk nominated stage, film and television actor Mike Burstyn. 'Lansky' opens on Thursday February 5 at 8pm after playing 16 previews beginning January 23.

The international stage, film and television leading man Mike Burstyn stars in 'Lansky,' a new one-man drama written by Richard Krevolin and Joseph Bologna that begins previews Off-Broadway on Friday January 23 at the St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street.

In Arena Stage's upcoming pre-Broadway showing of Matthew Lombardo's Looped, actor Jarrod Emick has been replaced by Chad Allen. Allen joins previously announced four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda in The Mary Tyler Moore Show) who stars as Tallulah Bankhead in this uproarious new comedy. Allen originally created the role of Danny Miller for the world premiere production of Looped at Pasadena Playhouse, and he is presently performing the role with Harper at the Cuillo Center in West Palm Beach Florida. Looped will play May 29-June 28, 2009 at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre.

Tony winner Jarrod Emick has been replaced by actor Chad Allen in the upcoming pre-Broadway showing of Matthew Lombardo's 'LOOPED.'
