On April 30th 2016 at Symphony Space on NYC's Upper West Side, Valentina Kozlova glowed with well-deserved pride as she introduced the Awards Ceremony and Gala of this year's eponymous Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition. Originally called the Boston Ballet Competition, the event has mushroomed in just six years into a worthy contender for joining the ranks of such celebrated competitions as Youth America Grand Prix, Varna, and Jackson.

Held at the culturally diverse Symphony Space on the Upper West Side on April 30th 2016, the 6th Edition of the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition showcased a bounty of prodigal talent in both classical and contemporary dance. It's encouraging and refreshing to witness such unabashed enthusiasm for the art of movement in young dancers today, especially since this year's installment was dedicated to the unrivaled ballerina Violette Verdy. After a felicitous awards ceremony bestowing medals and scholarships to the competition's most promising dancers, audience members were treated to the very exciting, very real talents of this year's standout competitors in a vibrant gala, with a diverse mix of new choreography and tried-and-true classical favorites.

NBC is assembling an all-star team of Broadway's finest and most talented creatives for its upcoming production of 'Hairspray Live!,' the network's latest stage musical following the phenomenal success of 'The Wiz Live!' Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced a new season of work for the company in celebration of their 60th anniversary year. Founded in 1956 the NYT is the pioneering force for youth theatre around the world and is recognised as the leading provider of free alternatives to formal theatre training, with alumni including Dame Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Chiwetel Ejiofor CBE and Sir Daniel Day Lewis. Since being founded the world's leading youth arts charity has nurtured the talent of over 100,000 young people.  

The Edge Theater presents the regional premiere of 'Casa Valentina' April 22 through May 22 at 1560 Teller Street in Lakewood. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays and Monday, May 9 at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 6 p.m. No show on Sunday, May 8. This Sunday (April 24th) marks the opening of Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) production of Richard Brinsley Sheridan's THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, directed by Marc Vietor.

Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE  GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances. 

The Old Globe presents Nick Payne's Broadway hit play CONSTELLATIONS, directed by the Globe's own Richard Seer. Christian Coulson and Victoria Frings lead the two-person play, which runs now through May 8, 2016, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Opening night is tonight, April 14 at 8:00 p.m.
