American Theater Company (ATC) announced today an addition to the 2011-12 Season: the World Premiere of Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar, featuring ensemble member Usman Ally. According to the Chicago Tribune, American Theatre Company's Artistic director PJ Paparelli has announced that their upcomig production of DISGRACED is ' a possible pre-Broadway tryout. The play, written by Ayad Akhtar, is about 'a Muslim-American lawyer tyring to climb the corporate ladder at some cost to himself.' New York producers the Araca Group is backing the project. Openi ng night is set for February 6.
According to the Chicago Tribune, David Cromer is currently in talks to dierct the American Theater Company production of RENT, which runs May-July 2012. Artistic director PJ Paparelli to the Tribune: 'It depends on David's schedule. We won't know for a couple of weeks.'
