True story: in 1953, iconic L.A. architects Richard Neutra and Rudolph Schindler, onetime friends and business partners who had been bitterly estranged for 23 years, found themselves, by a vagary of fate, occupying the same hospital room in Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA presents a site-specific production in which playwright/director Tom Lazarus imagines what might have transpired during that reunion. Ray Xifo and John Nielsen star as Neutra and Schindler, with Heather Robinson in the role of Nurse Rothstein. BWW Reviews: LYSISTRATA at Connecticut Repertory Theatre
by Karen Bovard - Mar 16, 2015

Outrageous, bawdy, and pointed: LYSISTRATA may be one of the oldest comedies we have (written in 411 B.C.E. by the great Greek troublemaker Aristophanes) but it remains both wickedly funny and pertinent. He wrote it 20 years into a bloody war that seemed endless. His premise? Have women conspire to withhold sex from their men until they can't take it any more and agree to a peace treaty.

BWW Reviews: Theatre Memphis Dusts Off TINTYPES
by Joseph Baker - Nov 6, 2014

Not too many seasons back, at Theatre Works I saw a charming review of turn-of-the-century musical numbers (by the likes of Irving Berlin and others) entitled SIMPLE MELODIES. The songs were rendered by a small but talented ensemble, and I so enjoyed it that I returned more than once - basically, because I wanted to treat friends who I knew would appreciate it as much as I did. With Theatre Memphis' TINTYPES, conceived by Mary Kyte with Mel Marvin and Gary Pearle, and charmingly directed (often with a 'knowing wink') by Kell Christie, I may just have to contact those friends once again.
