TO MASTER THE ART Recoups in Five Weeks; Continues thru Oct 20

The Chicago Commercial Collective has announced that TO MASTER THE ART has recouped its full production capitalization in just 5 weeks. Commissioned by TimeLine Theatre in 2008, the play, about the adventure and romance of Julia and Paul Child's journey of discovery to Paris during the 1950s, has had a successful run at the Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E Chestnut) and will continue through October 20.

Evan Cabnet directs this stirring exploration of an on-campus tragedy with a cast that includes Liam Benzvi (Gabe), Patrick Clear (University President), Rashaad Hall (Nicky), Ryan Heindl (Teddy Ferrara), Christopher Imbrosciano (Jay), Jax Jackson (Jaq), Dev Kennedy and Fawzia Mirza (Campus Police), Paloma Nozicka (Jenny), Adam Poss (Drew), Josh Salt (Tim), Kelli Simpkins (Ellen) and Janet Ulrich Brooks (University Provost). The design team includes Jenny Mannis (Costume Designer), Keith Parham (Lighting Designer), Lee Savage (Set Designer) and Richard Woodbury (Sound Designer). Expanded to thirty categories this year, the BCAs (or "Broadies") honor Chicago's theater productions and artists in both Equity and Non-Equity categories, including plays, musicals, revues, Theater for Young Audiences, touring shows and special theatrical events. Productions which opened between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012 were eligible for nomination.
