Bebe Neuwirth to Host WP Theater's 30th Women of Achievement Awards, Honoring Tyne Daly & More

Women's Project Theater (WP Theater), under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty has announced the 30th Annual WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GALA. The gala will honor Tony Award and six-time Emmy Award winning actress Tyne Daly, President and Vice Chairman, Fairchild Fashion Media Stephanie George and Group President, North America, Procter & Gamble Carolyn Tastad. Hosted by Two-time Tony & Emmy Award-winner Bebe Neuwirth, with special appearances by Four-time Tony Award & Emmy winner Terrence McNally (It's Only a Play, The Visit), Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, It Shoulda Been You), Jeb Brown (Beautiful, The Carole King Musical), Margo Seibert (Rocky), and more, the Gala will take place on Monday, June 8, 2015 (6:30pm Cocktails, 8:00pm Dinner/Awards/Performances) at The Edison Ballroom, 240 W 47th Street.

First The Visit, a haunting musical drama, based on the 1958 play by Friedrich Durrenmatt, which originally starred the legendary acting team of Lynn Fontanne as the world's wealthiest woman and Alfred Lunt as the disloyal former lover on whom she seeks revenge. Broadway favorites Chita Rivera and Roger Rees star in this stirring adaptation and appear on THEATER TALK to discuss their roles in it. Joining them are The Visit's innovative director, John Doyle, and composer, John Kander, who wrote the score with lyricist Fred Ebb (the pair's last collaboration before Ebb's death).

Living on Love opened last night, April 20, 2015 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).

On her Sunday off from Broadway's IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, Tyne Daly went to see her friend Chita Rivera in THE VISIT at the Lyceum Theater and congratulated her (after jumping to her feet for the standing ovation) backstage in her dressing room after the show. THE VISIT is set to open this Thursday, April 23rd, making it the final musical and the last show to open in the 2014-2015 season. Scroll down for a photo!

The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway announced the nominees this morning for the 2014-15 season. The first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season, the organization is celebrating its 64th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater. The Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, Internet, and theatre publications in America and abroad.
