First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83), will present the rollicking World Premiere of SHAKESPEARE'S CYMBELINE: A FOLK TALE WITH MUSIC, previewing June 19, opening Saturday, June 22 at 8:15 p.m., and running through July 21, 2013. This wondrous new version of the timeless Shakespearean folk tale has been moved to Civil War Appalachia and includes 10 original songs featuring beautiful bluegrass melodies. SHAKESPEARE'S CYMBELINE: A FOLK TALE WITH MUSIC is adapted by First Folio Theatre's Executive Director and Jeff Award-nominee, David Rice, with Music and Lyrics by Rice and Michael Keefe (First Folio's Resident Composer). Michael Goldberg (The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night's Dream at First Folio Theatre) directs the "Shakespeare Under the Stars" production, which concludes First Folio Theatre's smash hit 2013 season. It will appear on the outdoor main stage situated on the scenic slopes of the historic Mayslake Peabody Estate.

The Artistic Home, near the corner of Byron and Clark on the outskirts of Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood, is directly across the street from a cemetery. Well, three cemeteries, I think. And that is so appropriate, because, as you may know, that's where you end up at the end of this 1891 German dramatic classic by Frank Wedekind, being performed now through May 9, 2010 by the Promethean Theatre Ensemble.

Promethean Theatre Ensemble continues a season of firsts with their production of the Frank Wedekind play Spring Awakening, making season four their first three-show season. Directed by former PTE Artistic Director Stephen F. Murray, the play will feature PTE ensemble members Devon Candura (The Fantasticks, The Illusion) and Nick Lake (The Fantasticks, The Last Unicorn, Measure for Measure, The Illusion, and Six Characters in Search of an Author), as well as guest artists Jes Bedwinek, Zachary Clark (Measure for Measure), Sara Gorsky, Jessica London-Shields, Paul G. First Folio Theatre's Season of Passion will continue this February with Design for Living, No?l Coward's comedic masterpiece of two men with a passion for the same woman, whose machinations lead to fireworks, love, and laughter. The NY Times hails Noel Coward as 'the master of impudence and tart whimsy, of plain words that leap out of the dialogue like shafts of laughter. 'Directed by Alison C. Vesely, the production marks the return to First Folio's stage of two of its most popular Artistic Associates, Kevin McKillip (as Leo) and Melanie Keller (as Gilda). Kevin McKillip has appeared in more than a dozen First Folio productions, including the Jeff nominated roles of Richard III, Puck (A Midsummer Night's Dream), and Eustace Bassington-Bassington (in last season's Jeeves Intervenes). He has appeared with numerous Chicago area theaters including the Goodman (The Story), Court (Arcadia), and Famous Door (Early and Often and Ghetto), and spent a year with the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada. Melanie Keller was last seen on the First Folio stage as Bella in Angel Street. Previously she appeared in Private Lives and The Importance of Being Earnest. Melanie is also a company member of Signal Ensemble where she performed as part of their Jeff nominated cast in The Weir. Design marks her return to the Chicago area theater after she, too, spent a year with the Stratford Festival, where she appeared in Romeo and Juliet and Love's Labors Lost.Other major roles are played by David Kovac (Otto), Ren? Ruelas (Ernest), and Jeannie Affelder (Miss Hodge/Grace Torrence).
