Howard University's Dance Arts Program Presents Two Works with Washington Ballet Tonight

WASHINGTON, D.C. -The Washington Ballet (TWB) is pleased to announce that Howard University's Dance Arts Program will present two works in its upcoming studio company performance, theNEWmovement: Balanchine & Beyond. This energetic exploration of works by George Balanchine explores the dance legend's influence on generations of choreographers. The program will include Balanchine's classic Serenade; Septime Webre's Fluctuating Hemlines and his first ballet, D-Construction; TWB Company dancer Tamás Krizsa's piece Resonance; and two works by Howard University's Dance Arts Program: Keuchen and SHOOK.

Ben Thompson to Make Solo Debut at 54 Below Next Week

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Ben Thompson in his solo show debut for a one-night-only performance, Tuesday, August 25th, at 9:30 PM.  Thompson will take the audience on a genre-bending sonic journey through some of his favorite songs - spanning rock, rap and punk, to Broadway, jazz and even some original tunes.

It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. It's just a handful of hours until the 69th annual Tony Awards, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 8/7c on CBS. This Broadway season has some exciting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at least pre-ordering).

INVISIBLE THREAD, Previously Titled WITNESS UGANDA, and Kenny Leon-Helmed SMART PEOPLE Set for Second Stage's 2015-16 Season

Second Stage Theatre has announced two New York Premiere productions for its upcoming 37th season.  The season will kick off in fall 2015 with the New York Premiere production of Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews' new musical, INVISIBLE THREAD (previously titled Witness Uganda), in association with American Repertory Theater, directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Finding Neverland, Pippin).  The season will continue in early 2016 with the New York premiere of Lydia R. Diamond's (Stick Fly) critically acclaimed play, SMART PEOPLE, directed by Tony Award Winner Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun, Stick Fly). Two additional productions remain to be announced.

Reality TV Hits the Stage in DUCK COMMANDER MUSICAL, Beginning Tonight in Las Vegas

Based on the best-selling book The Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson, preview performances for DUCK COMMANDER MUSICAL begins tonight, April 8. The production makes its world premiere at the Crown Theater inside Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on April 15. The talented cast features Broadway veterans and Las Vegas locals who will join the company in celebration of the Robertson family's rags-to- riches story.
