As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, trailblazing dancer, director, and choreographer Dame Gillian Lynne passed away. She was 92 years old. The Committee of Theatre Owners has decided to dim the lights of Broadway theatres in New York in her memory tonight at exactly 6:45pm for one minute. The Society of London Theatres has announced that the lights will also dim across the West End theatres.

London's National Theatre production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's musical OKLAHOMA! makes its exclusive New Hampshire debut at the Park Theatre's River Street Theatre in Jaffrey on July 7 and 8. The film of the multi-award-winning Royal National Theatre production features the famed actor, singer and producer Hugh Jackman and Maureen Lipman. Directed by Trevor Nunn, artistic director of the Royal National Theatre and director of Cats, Starlight Express and Les Miserables and featuring new choreography by Susan Stroman (The Producers, Crazy For You, Showboat). Ms. Stroman won the Olivier Award for Best Choreography for OKLAHOMA!This production broke box-office records in London and was recognized by the Hammerstein estate as the definitive version of this immensely popular musical. The transition to screen was just as successful with the film winning an International Emmy award.

The stage is being set for the Jellicle Ball! According to The Stage,  the Royal Ballet's resident choreographer, Wayne McGregor, has signed on to choreograph Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of Cats. Filming is set to begin in London this November. Casting is now underway.

Sandra Dickinson has had a long and diverse career, spanning stage and screen. An American who has lived in the UK for over four decades, she was recently seen in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One and as Lucille Ball in I Loved Lucy at the Arts Theatre. Oliver K. Olsen, chair of the Board of Directors of the Weston Playhouse Theatre, announces today that Susanna Gellert has been chosen by the Board of Directors to be the company's new Executive Artistic Director. Gellert, currently Associate Producer and Director of the Studio at New York's acclaimed Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA), comes to Weston with fifteen years of experience in New York and regional theatre and a long-standing relationship with Vermont, which has been her second home for the past seven years.
