In his solo cabaret debut, Travis Kent joins forces with some of today's brightest contemporary composers for an evening full of firsts. Bargemusic Here and Now Series presents “Tokyo to New York.” The concert will feature premiers composed or arranged for critically acclaimed clarinetist and hichiriki player Thomas Piercy by Tokyo- and NYC-based composers. Mr. Piercy will be joined in the concert by one of Japan's leading classical and contemporary pianists, Noritaka Ito. The music - in a wide variety of styles - includes premiers by Ned Rorem (Pulitzer- and Grammy-Award), Fernando Otero (Latin-Grammy Award); Toshio Hosokawa (Suntory Music Award), Yuichi Matsumoto (Takemitsu Award), Masatora Goya (Jerome Fund Award), and Senri Oe (major Japanese pop-star, now NYC-based jazz composer). Other premiers on the program are by Japanese composers Tomo Hirayama, Kaito Nakahori, Atsushi Yoshinaka; and premiers by NYC-based composers Trevor Bachman, Peri Mauer, Gene Pritsker, and David Wolfson. Many of the composers will be in attendance; pianist Ito and several of the composers will travel from Japan for the concert.

The Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy will present 9 to 5: The Musical, based on the 1980 20th Century Fox film and originally produced on Broadway by Robert Greenblatt. Directed by Christopher Scott with choreography by Monica Johnson and musical direction by Trevor Bachman, the production will feature 26 members of "The Teen Academy." Coromandel is a land running amuck with strange sounds, quirky creatures and new friends. This fusion of rock, jazz, bluegrass, tango, musical theatre, and classical sounds makes for a diverse, delicious, and sonically satisfying evening. New composer Trevor Bachman made his Joe's Pub debut on Monday, August 12 in Songs of a Brave Soldier- a musical chronicle of truth. Wielding music as a storytelling force, this evening of rock, soul, and classical styles is a sampling of two original musicals (Pyre Cantata and Coromandel), as well as brand new songs. Bachman is an indie music theatre composer/lyricist with an eclectic sound, fusing tight harmonies, soulful grooves and addictive melodies, creating an emotional theatrical experience.
